People hate Etling because he is the ultimate game manager. He won't kill you with multiple interceptions and risky mistakes. But on the flip side most of the time he won't make a huge play on his own to win a game either. I can live that for now when you consider where we were at the QB position the last few years.

Where does his game against troy rank?

I’m not sure. I believe you can go get that data from the link I provided.

But from what I remember about Troy, was Boy-Wonder throwing an interception at the end of the game.

Because it operates outside of context which is supremely important. He's a non factor at the position, as bland and as non threatening a qb as I've ever seen.

The fact that Gier, Dungy, Locke, Rourke, Browning, and Darnold are behind him is 100% retarded and just shows that ESPN is off their wagon

it's a mathematical formula they use. And as for Darnold, I suspect the reason he's low is he's thrown a lot of picks this year.

He’s not in the top 40 in any category on the sheet except the last one. My guess he’s being boosted by the low number of attempts and yards per.

This particular QB ranking is nothing but context. It’s not a simple stat sheet.

There is a large population in this board that can't admit that JaMarcus Russel had an amazing JR year as a Tiger.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, and they're all shitty some of the time.

I like Etling, he is a capable game manager. Won't wow you with any athletic abilities or an amazingly strong or accurate arm, but he doesn't make the mistakes that let lesser teams beat you.

On the flip side Etling combined with sub par WR play won't win many games if the opposing D can shut down the run.

Spock, this is a thread about an overall QB rankings.

A purely objective ranking based on mathematics.

Why can’t you people understand that?

Junior Nick Fitzgerald had an 84 Total QBR against Bama.
True Freshman Kellen Mond had a 63.
Redshirt Freshman Cole Kelley had a 58.

Elting had a 46.

Math is fun.

This isn't a “Who had the best game against Bama” thread.

How does LSU rank in the nation as it relates to passing offense and scoring offense? This will tell you the real story of Etling.

According to ESPN QB rankings.

You posted a Rating NOT a Ranking.

There is a difference.

He Ranks 115th in ATTs and COMPs.

LSU has not broken the Top 100 since 2007.
ATTs/GM
2017 115th 22.8
2016 116th 24.8
2015 119th 23.1
2014 120th 21.2
2013 108th 25.1

Lots of LSU fans hard at work to convince other LSU fans that Etling is a bad QB

It’s not really a ranking as far as a statistical category that is going to skew heavy in in the favor of a QB who ONLY throws to WIDE open WRs and gets a lot of deep balls.

Danny Etling isn’t a great quarterback because Chark can get 5-15 yards of separation.
