I like the guys toughness, but last week was arguably one of his worst performances. He should be getting better at this juncture of the season, so it's hard for me to be impressed by this watered down stat. That said, he's still serving us better than Brandon Harris and he's done a good job handling the adversity this year.
If he comes out and plays well against Bama and keeps us in the game then he will have earned solid standing in LSU history.

For whatever reason, people will hate on this guy because at Backup QBU, the 2nd string guy is always better. What happens when rantards are allowed to post.
All his "underthrown" passes are most likely by design so that only the WR has a shot at it. But, go ahead and blame his noodle arm.

He just can’t throw it down field very well at all and doesn’t step up in the pocket to hit his progressions (when there is a pocket).
Good athlete and tough as nails though.

Give me Hurts, Stidham, Fitz or Patterson over Etling without question.

of course i do.
If we had Patterson, and Ole Miss had Etling, LSU would have won 66-3.

QBR is a tool but not the end all be all.
If I told you Case Keenam had a better QBR than Drew Brees would you say he is a better QB?
BTW the #1 QBR in the NFL is Deshaun Watson.
It’s a measure but hardly definitive.
DE has been hidden in the passing game by Canada. IF he were 3rd best in SEC don’t you think we would pass a bit more and put the game in his hands more than we do?

9/13 200yards 2 TDS 0 ints with 2 drops... that was a bad game?

FFS.
That is QB Rating.
That is not QBR.
You might as well tell me he is a dominate player that dominants the SEC in passing.

This is a meaningless stat without context.
Sure he has a high passer rating. But th ereason isn’t because he’s good. It’s because Canada has limited the playbook and only calls very safe pass plays in order to hide how ineffective he really is.
Remember, against Florida hit DBs right in the hands twice but they were dropped. Against AU they dropped a gift int right before ine of our scores. He constantly missed wide open receivers.
He has been more lucky than good.

He has more 40 yard pass plays after 8 games than Rohan Davey 2001, Matt Mauck 2003, Jamarcus Russell 2006, Matt Flynn 2007 and Zach Mettenberger 2013 had in those entire seasons.

You can't have them. They are already scholarship players for other schools.

Would you say that he is "serviceable?"

Hitting a RB out of the backfield for 60 and a wide open TE on a blown coverage for 60 does not make him a good QB.
