9/13 200yards 2 TDS 0 ints with 2 drops... that was a bad game?

No it isn't bad when you consider he didn't complete a pass beyond the line of scrimmage outside of the wide open TE TD. Theres probably 10 high school qbs in LA that could have done what he did against Ole Miss.

A. There wasn’t any blown coverage it’s called a swing screen
B. So you’d rather him not complete those passes to Williams?

2 competitions to Williams behind the line and 1 to the tight end, which for some reason I’m guessing altering reality to fit your narrative, shouldn’t count. That’s 3 passes, where were the other 6 completions?

last week was arguably one of his worst performances

9/13 (69%) for 200 yards, 2 TDs and 0 turnovers

I'm not sure what your expectations are but perhaps they're slightly unrealistic?

Maybe Canada is saving something for Bama?

None of the passes to the TE or to Williams required any skill whatsoever. A 16 year old could have completed them, and they were all completely wide open.

He made a very nice throw to Guice for a first down.
He made a nice deep throw that was dropped, after a horribly underthrown ball that would have been a TD had he thrown it 15 yards deeper.
He made a nice throw to Gage for a first down that was dropped.

SO he made 3 good throws on the night, and about 95% of the passing yards he had, were done by the reciever, and could have been completed by any qb in the country.

I'll say that the Oline was terrible and did not help him at all, unlike the last two games were they were decent at least.

He's not a good QB, and how anyone can think he is good, boggles my mind. He's doing the best he can, and we are calling the plays the best we can to get the most out of him.

You can't tell me you watched Shea Patterson and thought Etling was comparable to him. We would be undefeated right now with Patterson, and we would have scored 60 against Ole piss with him.

Give me Hurts, Stidham, Fitz or Patterson over Etling without question.

Nobody is saying he's better than Hurts or Patterson. But he's hardly a liability and can win games when needed.

BTW, he's 2-0 against Stidham and Patterson this year, and 3-0 against the two for his career.

Patterson had 3 times as many interceptions against LSU as Etling has had on the season. Just saying...

he won't lose games but he's not going to win any either. If a team takes our running game away we are fricked etling can't take a game over throwing the ball.

Patterson is still the much better quarterback. He was playing when he shouldn't have.

Number 31,

Quick football lesson.

QBR is a proprietary statistic created by ESPN. It does not go over 100. It's garbage. QBR

QB Rating or Passer Rating uses only pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and interceptions. The NFL and NCAA have different formulas. QB Rating

You posted QB Rating, not QBR.

You should change the title.

IF he were 3rd best in SEC don’t you think we would pass a bit more and put the game in his hands more than we do?

Where did I say he is the 3rd best quarterback in the SEC? I'll wait.

if he can beat bama, then he'll be up there with matt maulk...a great, serviceable QB

and, as far as his toughness goes, I'd agree that he is waaaay tougher than last season. after a few hits last season, I thought he was dead.

Etling has risen to the occasion as our QB. But, if he flops vs Bama, he'll never be remembered for anything great.

This is his spotlight. This is his time to do more than he's ever done. This is the biggest game that he's ever played in.

he's really lit the world on fire through the air against florida auburn and ole miss. I mean he's our manning he's so amazing. etling isn't a good quarterback. he doesn't go through progressions and his numbers come from screens to his running backs

1. I don't think we've completed a screen in three weeks, so if you don't know what a screen is maybe you shouldn't post

2. He was 8 of 13 against OM. Two sure drops and three one out of bounds.

Screens????? Wow

Wrong.

What I posted was a screenshot of a statistic from a credible source.

The source was actually clearly QB Rating, so if I refered to it as QBR I was mistaken.

You are not comparing his downfield passing to Rohan, Jamarcus, and Mett. I know you're not.

Patterson has almost twice as many TD's, and plays for a team that is devoid of talent.
Sure Elting doesn't throw interceptions. It's b/c he only throws passes to RB's and TE's that are wide open. He isn't put in situations to throw them, and the few times a game he does have to actually complete a pass to a WR, he either throws deep, or gets sacked. Our Oline has been terrible, but Etling isn't going to take even the slightest chance more often than not.
ANd he's thrown some interceptions that were conveniently dropped, so it's not just our WR's that can't catch his passes.

I agree. Etling's dump offs to Williams have been elite. We have never really been a pass-to-RB team.

Darrel Williams 16 234 14.6 0

Another stat to put out there are how successful TEs and FBs have been catching passes from Etling.

Foster Moreau 14 180 12.9 3
Jamal Pettigrew 1 18 18.0 0

John David Moore 6 51 8.5 1
Clyde Edwards 2 19 9.5 0
