This won't be long forgotten. He's going to have to do something above and beyond to help LSU in some capacity down the road to save face and get in our good graces after all of this.

I think it is pretty clear Jayden is getting some bad business advice from people he trusts. Essentially, they are telling him he needs to have total control of the #5 jersey in perpetuity for his "brand" and business opportunities, and they are stoking the fire within by saying LSU didn't do this to Burrow.
In one ill conceived letter he's allowed himself to be made an enemy of a school/fanbase that loves and celebrates him and a pariah to the overwhelming majority of college football fans and football fans in general....for very little gain.
I agree with Fournette. He's not bigger than the LSU "brand". Use the power of the brand for your own benefit. Don't foolishly alienate it. Hopefully someone he trusts with better business sense steps in for his sake.

They need to just post certain numbers in the stadium like a ring of honor and not retire any numbers. Set a basic standard or whatever and have a ring of honor type club or statues or large plaques recognizing Heisman winners outside. They can build a “Heisman” plaza somewhere to recognize these folks without necessarily permanently retiring a number.
