I’m go No to suggest that a QB that can’t find open receivers isn’t very good.
To his credit, he was able to make plays with his feet.
But, I am 100% certain that if that area of his game doesn’t improve he will be criticized endlessly here.
FSU isn’t good. WRs were open.

Freakin LSU fans kill me. Anyone with remedial football IQ knew this team was going to lose 4-5 minimum and the line would be awful, but in true LSU fan base fashion, they immediately blame the QB and for everything. Culture change takes time as does rebuilding. Cry on and on a season or 2 jump your arse back on the bandwagon and pretend you understand again.

He didn’t have a lot of time on some drop backs, because they were blitzing, and he didn’t know where his hot reads were, so the defense kept sending blitzes. A good QB will often burn defenses, so smart defenses use blitzes sparingly. But if the QB doesn’t know where to pass it, then it frees the defense to blitz often. When FSU went to 3 man fronts and played prevent, then Daniels had success. He’s getting accolades for that last drive, but even in that last drive, his running almost burned us, because we were out of timeouts, so if he had been tackled short, time would’ve run out. That was very risky and probably not smart for him to take off running in that situation.

The same thing was said about TJ Finley after his first start.
I do agree that Daniels is probably the best option we have at QB after viewing the Div III level of line play we have after ONE game.

Watch the rest of the play. Boutte stops his route & cuts the other direction. It was NOT a slant. The ball needs to be to him at his break. I've said it would have been a huge play and one Daniels needs to be able to make.
#2 - Whoops. I thought we were talking about Jenkins behind Bech. Jenkins has his man beat and if the route continues to the boundary it would have been incredibly hard for the safety to make. For an offense lacking explosive plays I would have loved to see Daniels attempt. I see Boutte now. He probably would have gotten the same amount of yards Daniels did there. I think Daniels had similar plays as the route to Boutte there he made in the second half.

You're right, it's one play. Anyone watching the game could have point to a number of plays showing Daniels going through his progressions and making accurate throws. To keep pointing to one single play where he gained ~12 yards and got a first down on the following play is pretty ridiculous.

Dude can’t change speeds. He didn’t know when to step up. He held onto the ball too long. He couldn’t feel pocket pressure coming from his vision side.
It takes 2.5 or so to get the ball out. 3 seconds and plant and fire, max.
If you’re on schedule as a QB then that’s plenty of time for a route tree to get to 15/20 yards downfield and with travel time you can have routes develop even more deeply.

Bc comparing any college kid in the last 200 years to Sr year Burrow is dumb. He had an unprecedented season that will never be duplicated. It was obvious by game 3 in 2019, that LSU was experiencing the peak.
So if you want to be miserable, by all means compare every QB LSU gets to Burrow. None of them will ever come close to measuring up.
