Daniel's fumble did anyone think it was targeting?

Wasn't even mentioned on the air. Thought it should have been reviewed.

if Daniels stays on the ground.

Absolutely. I was screaming at the tv.

Thought he was doing the 2 step going backwards

I was actually laughing he got rocked so hard. Wish our D would lay wood like that.

It was. And Dart was sacked. Would’ve changed anything but those were missed/bad calls

The hit OOB on 5 was also questionable. Surprised they didn’t even review it.

The hit happened in the red zone. If it was called targeting we keep the ball, get put on like the 10yd line and they get 1 less possession that they score a touchdown on. That single hit was a 10-14pt score swing in LSUs favor.

No it wasn’t targeting, he was standing straight up & put himself in a vulnerable position

that’s notnhowntargeting works
but it doesn’t look like he lead with the crown or hit him in the neck or helmet.

He launched UP and hit him in the head/neck area.
Are you blind?

There was definitely contact with the neck/head area, but that happens to the ball carrier on almost every play.
Not targeting because he wasn’t a defenseless player

I was not really asking for it, but I did notice that it probably fit the definition of the rule. My suspicion is that it was such an odd, awkward play that it didn't conjure "targeting" in the minds of the officials.

Nope. Clean hit that should’ve never even happened.
Daniels needs to learn to avoid those hits or he’s going to get hurt again.

You are a fricking idiot who doesn't understand the rules of targeting. I swear there should be an IQ test required to post on this board.

He wasn’t defenseless by rule, but the defender crouched. Launched up and hit head/neck area.
It’s a valid question. Look at the photo.

1) Didn't lead with the crown of the helmet
2) Wasn't against a defenseless player
Objectively not targeting....

This is the right answer. At the moment I thought it was but when I looked it up I realized it was not.

Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player
quote:
Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14). When in question, a player is defenseless. Examples of defenseless players include but are not limited to:
A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass.
A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier.
A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return.
A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier.
A player on the ground.
A player obviously out of the play.
A player who receives a blind-side block.
A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped.
A quarterback any time after a change of possession A ball carrier who has obviously given himself up and is sliding feetfirst.
Had he started to slide, then it would have been targeting.

There is an IQ test. It’s called Idiotic Questions. When you ask one you get to post more often.
