No by any metric they were terrible. A hint of what was to come was the first play of the game, Campbell absolutely got destroyed. But it wasnt only him the whole group was pushed way back.

He played well when FSU went into prevent defense.

He’s a talented kid, but has not shown the ability to consistently run a passing offense.

He takes way too long to make decisions and if he even senses a potential of pressure, he freaks out and runs. This won’t work consistently in the SEC.

I hope he improves, but what we saw last night was ASU Daniels of the last two years. That is not a guy that will win you games consistently.

Well yea. It was necessary for him to run b/c this scheme sucks and he doesn't have the skill set to be a pocket QB.

We were at the game and watched every snap.
To me he grew tremendously by the 4th quarter. He started skittish, then tried to do too much in middle of the game. And found his groove in the 4th with some personnel changes and new alignments.

I'm excited for the rest of the season. But I'm often accused of being a sunshine pumper.

Daniels and Nuss should each get a half against Southern.

Thats what a lot do not understand. If your Oline is a weakness, a “mobile” QB isn’t the only way to counter that. A QB that can make quick reads, with a quick release and good pocket awareness is an even better way to hide a weak Oline

You also have to wonder how many TD’s he would have thrown, don’t cherry pick. The kid isn’t scared to push the ball down the field. Let’s face it, it’s not a perfect scenario for any QB with the line struggling so bad and Denbrock isn’t helping with his shitty scheme and lack of adjustments.

You guys are getting tripped up on "running QB" vs "actual QB that also can run"

We had no semblance of a running game last night. If you can't run the ball to keep the defense honest they are going to tee off on the QB.

I was at the game and am watching replay right now. Daniels did great considering his o line completely failed him.

Joey B was a passer that could scramble. Just stop it.

Yes. The “Daniels played great” thing only comes from seeing the last 2 drives. FSU playing a prevent style defense and the short routes were WIDE open. Those were very easy passes and reads to make,

Once again, I don’t think Daniels played bad. But not “good” either. He severely limited the use of the biggest asset this offense gas. Its receivers

Exactly, that is the problem with people using results at the end as a barometer. It is things like that which lead to teams settling and not improving.

Again, kid has talent, but for a 4th year starter, he showed little poise in the pocket and very poor vision/patience/decision making.

I think the OL is getting a raw deal and a ton more blame than they deserve. Definitely some significant issues there, but a lot of blame goes to Daniels. Plenty of times he had a good pocket to step up into after the OT pushed his assignment to the outside like he is supposed to. That was entirely on Daniels and he has not shown any improvement from his time at ASU right now.

That happens when your best RB is out and you have a QB that the opposing team doesn’t feel threatened by. Daniels is responsible for that partly too. They kept their linebackers in much of the game which minimizes the run.

Running QBs don’t win nattys

You missed Little Joey

Joe would run for yardage if it was there and stretch out a first many times running for it.

Not comparing talents just the approach and abilities.

Agree. The “Natty” is a moot point this year. Was never going to happen. Daniels is the safe play at QB, but the ceiling for this season is probably 8-5. with him. I think Nuss raises that ceiling. But could also lower the floor

LINK /

What based on this 4 game sample size suggest Nuss would have done well last night. He took sacks vs. McNeese and Central Michigan, in fact, he was negative yards in all 4 games where he took snaps.

Does this 2022 OL look any better than the 2021 version? Does LSU's RB room look better? (maybe Emery helps here).

So Daniels had 100 plus rushing yards. Nuss would have had negative yards on sacks and thrown 2 picks.

I want to see him play vs. Southern, lets say he gets 15 throws. He should be at minimum 10 for 15 (67% completion) and No INTS, No Sacks, and at least 1 TD.

Let me see him put those numbers up against an FCS team first.

Your contradiction to “running qbs don’t win titles” is showing a gif of Burrow, one of the greatest pocket passers in college football history?
