It won’t be a true national championship so it’s kind of pointless.
Why wouldn't it be? Just because some conferences remove themselves from consideration it doesn't mean the champ is any worse.
OSU is the only other team besides an SEC team or Clemmy that has a shot anyway. If they choose to opt out, that's on them.

That doesn't make sense. The SEC has enough teams to go it alone.

Think of all the television dollars the SEC will bring in if they're the only product on the field Saturdays
The money they'll lose from minimizing attendance capacity could be made up from TV pretty easily.

SEC is still going ahead and may want to pick off schools from ACC and Big 12 that want to play.
the last 20 years' NC called and said nobody will notice any difference in the play-offs if only these 3 conferences played.

The SEC players will also have a huge advantage in the next draft too. Screw OSU, let them sit.

They’re not talking about bringing in Kansas State here. OU, UT, Clemson, etc. if SEC+ is the only product, they’ll pile money like Scrooge McDuck

Texas and OU want to play.”
Put them in the SEC West
Move Bama and Aubie to East for one year
East powers
Bama, Florida, UGA
West:
LSU Texas OU
this would also resurrect the Texas/aTm rivalry game

Looks good, but what about Clemmy?

This could quite possibly be the catalyst for future conference realignment. Just takes one crack and The glue that holds some of these conferences together will fail.

I'm wagering the ACC plays
No way they let their Southern Big Brother play all alone in this region of the country

Once their lawyers get hold of them, the SEC schools will most certainly cave in with the other conferences. Too much liability.

If only one or two conferences play, they may be able to make enough money on TV revenue to offset the loss of little or no fans.
They would get the highest ratings in college sports history.
Would still wreck local economies in college towns, but would be a decent outcome considering.

As long as players know their risks and sign well-worded waiver then we’re good. Obviously have to provide them with reasonably safe environment.

The SEC will be loaded unlike anything we have ever seen.
Posted on 8/10/20 at 10:42 am to ExpoTiger
They'd be the Power 1 from here out. Nothing would be the same.

What would post-season look like in this scenario? Will we even have a NC?
Posted on 8/10/20 at 11:29 am to ibldprplgld
Come on y’all know damn well there would be an asterisk by the champion if it happens. Kid yourself all you want but it won’t be considered legitimate.

You can be assured that if the SEC and whoever else decides to play, they will have to leave the NCAA to do it. Looks like the Mason-Dixon line might be making a reappearance.
