So what i'm hearing is since we got the nations leading tackler then we have nothing to worry about against ole miss and Matt corral correct? I mean with Clark spying Corral there's no way he runs for 200 yards like he did against Tenn. Damone about to shut him down . So what if he is tackling Corral 10 yards to 15 yards down the field it still counts as a tackle. After all he is leading the nation in tackles.

That you have been wrong about Damone Clark. He is a very good LB, and he’ll be a staple in the NFL.

He has improved a hell of a lot.

LB play in general was better.

Don’t worry, this post and Damone Clark will get shite on by the dipshits on here who never played past 8U flag football. They can’t admit that they were ever slightly wrong about anything.

I was sitting with a pro scout yesterday at the game and after talking to him I'm convinced most of y'all have no idea what you are talking about. He did say that he sees Clark as being misused but he floored me when he told me who he thinks is the most underappreciated player(s) on the field.

So, who were the additional player(s) mentioned by said scout?

Props to the kid for continuing to care about repping the LSU brand
He plays w passion and will probably end up being a solid NFL LB and we’ll all be proud to call him one of our own
Representing the number 18 tradition the way it should be done, he’s had some down times but kept grinding and now he’s playing great

And if I looked like that dude I think I would flex a lot also

Really floored me when he said Shanahan and followed up by saying Deculus. Said Shanahan does not grade out all that bad and more than holds his own ...said given the offense, Shanahan has the toughest position on the field and given that he thinks Ingram and Wire are not that good makes his position even harder. Said Shanahan, Hines and Deculus are all draftable. Said Ingram is better when he pulls. Was intrigued with Mashburn but really has no tape on which to go on.

He has no choice because our DL doesn't touch runners.

Good for him, but unfortunately many are downdield

He has double the amount of tackles than the next man on his team and leads the country. That usually means the defense is horrible and he has no help

That wasn’t a scout, it was just some random drunk and you fell for his lies.

If you have a linebacker leading in tackles, you have a D line that can't.

I keep seeing this exact comment repeated in nearly every positive story about Clark. For the record, I don't think he sucks. I just don't think he's great at diagnosing plays and has to chase a lot. When you play up the middle on a defense that gets run on a lot, you get a lot of tackles. If you're getting off the field, you don't have as many tackling opportunities. He's on a pace to have more tackles than Devin White ever had in a season, if I'm not mistaken. Does anybody think Clark is anywhere near White's class?

I know some people will hate on this comment because it isn't positive enough. I'm merely pointing out that tackles can be a rather meaningless statistic. I'd like to see some tackles near the line of scrimmage a lot more often.

Right. He and TDP should never see the field.

Clark is playing for his 3rd DC and third defensive scheme in 3 yrs. MLB is one of the hardest to learn because the position is put into conflict by the offensive schemes every week which are all different by the way.

If playing MLB gets you a lot of tackles then where is Baskerville on that list... he dont catch any flak on here
