Um except that Louisiana's population has been shrinking since 2016
1. LSU's highest full-time enrollment was in 2015. It declined 2016 and 2017, and has risen for 2018 and 2019.
2. Birth rates started declining in 2016, but I don't think many 3-year-olds qualify for admission.
ETA: Additionally, the average high school class ranking for new freshmen has steadily declined since 2008. The percentage of new freshmen that ranked in the bottom 25% of their high school class has more than doubled since 2008.
-In 2008, 84.3% of new freshmen were in the top 50% of their high school class and 15.7% were in the bottom 50%.
-In 2019, 75.9% of new freshmen were in the top 50% of their high school class and 24.1% were in the bottom 50%.
Admission rates for new freshmen have (unsurprisingly) increased as well. AND the percentage of admitted students that enroll has steadily declined.

It worked out in the end as far as football is concerned

Most people who complained about F King Alexander probably did not graduate from LSU and would not give to the foundation on their best day.

Dale Brown sucks arse. Dude brought LSU basketball out of the dark days only to send us deeper in the dark days. frick him.

Dale Brown is an honorable man. Iused to think of him as a father whenever I heard him speak. Coach Brown fought for equality for everyone. I love him and it will be sad when he is gone.
Coach Brown is not perfect but then again we are fall short of the mark. Live life the best you can and help others.

1. Largest and most diverse freshman classes in history. 2. Largest overall enrollment in history. 3. Largest graduating classes these past two years in LSU history of African-Americans, Hispanic, Asian American, female, out-of-state and in-state students, first-generation students, and veterans
These are not accomplishments, they’re a byproduct of changing demographics, endless scholarship opportunities for minorities, population growth, and the fact that people are virtually required to go to college now if they want a job.

4. Five of the seven best fundraising years in history
Best by what metric? I’d hope that he had the highest numeric fundraising years in LSU history when we’ve never had more graduates in the workforce and there have never been more US Dollars in circulation
quote:
5. LSU systemwide achieved a milestone reaching $ 1.1 billion in research funding
This has virtually nothing to do with Alexander.
Note that all of his “accomplishments” are a byproduct of an increasing number of humans on this planet which has absolutely nothing to do with him, it’s amazing that Dale wasn’t touting any academic achievements or really anything that can be measured on a “per capita” basis
F King Alexander was terrible, and Dale’s horse shite stats don’t change that.

The demographic that goes to college isn't the same as the working, functional population that has fled.
Lower standards, increase availability of grants and loans and you can pack institutions with diverse folks that shouldn't be in a university even if the workers flee.

Tuition is cheap in comparison to other schools of LSU's level and admission standards are a joke.

Um except being from Louisiana isn’t a requirement to go to LSU. The US population has grown massively, and our state’s population is still up 150,000+ since he took over.

Dale has a right to his opinion. He was always for the underdog i guess. The donor class at LSU didn’t like F King and for good reason. F King reminded me of Mitch Landrieu in that he was more concerned about unnecessary aspects of the job, statues/diversity than doing a good job. Maybe they both think it looked good on their resume’s. Glad they are both gone.

Good point because Richard Lipsey isn't above playing politics to his personal and/or financial advantage?

Some figures that I think are interesting, keeping in mind that F. King Alexander has been president of LSU since July 2013:
The percentage of admitted students who enroll has declined...
Despite a decline in admission standards:
There has been a steady decline in STEM majors over the past 4 years...
A decline in business/mass comm. majors..
A slower decline in education majors..
But an increase in liberal arts majors! (Imagine that.)
In-state enrollment was declining, while we kept loosening admission standards:
Out-of-state enrollment... same story:
Tuition and fees have increased 100% since 2010 (52% during F King's tenure):
State appropriations have decreased almost 50% since 2008, but have actually increased by about 3% during F King's tenure:
Grants and contracts are actually flat since F King took over, but gifts are up a bit so there's that:
Look on the bright side, though... we're diverse!

There is a lot of F King hate on this board. But I’ll give him props. You may have cringed at his methods, but the guy fought for LSU. He fought for funding, every single year, through all the Jindal budget cuts. He deserves more credit than anyone for bringing back acceptable funding levels.
So what did it take to get more students in here and and get a more diverse student body? And how do we know that all of those things were not trending up before he got here? Because we had the two largest freshman classes ever in 04 and 08 after winning titles, and more and more colleges have higher female to male ratio than ever before, that was trending up 20 years ago.

LSU should strive to get the most capable students and graduate them, not the most diverse.
This applies to every facet of life. If there is natural diversity in what you do then great. Making diversity your first goal is asinine. Prioritizing it that way makes you stupid.

He did some good and some bad. His delivery sucked and I didn’t agree with his politics.
