Coach O will convince him to enter the draft, however if the young man insist on staying then provide him with an insurance policy of 3-5 mil and let the school pay for the premium. Of course it won't be first round money. The young man loves LSU!!

Does he have any daughters?

so he shouldn't seek advice from anyone else? Good lord.

I want Devin to do what makes him feel right and good. If that means going pro now, then go with a clear conscience and everybody’s blessing. If that means staying, then stay with no second guessing or hoots from the ones who want to monetize everything here on TR or anywhere. Not everything good and right comes with a price tag attached.

which is why he may come back to move up next year and get selected where he should.
If he drops it will be from the devaluation of the MLB position in general, so coming back would not increase his stock
What hasn’t he done on the field? He’s shown the NFL all it needs to see. He’s going.

We did this last year with Guice.
great point! Guice would have ended up in a better situation if he stayed.

He landed in a spot with zero competition for workhorse snaps. He’d be having a great season right now without snapping his ACL in the first preseason game.

Appreciate his focus on exams and playing in the bowl game though.

I’ll bet he’s played his last game at Lsu. No way he’s playing in the fiesta bowl.

I would tell him to enter the draft. Sure it is so easy to be selfish and want him to stay. I bet even CEO tells him to enter the draft.
You can't risk an injury plus you are losing a year of pay making millions.
Reading about Greedy's situation, I would tell him to enter the draft too. This is what they have been striving for and it is there in front of them. Staying another year will not benefit them at all.
Sure this is somewhat selfish since staying could really benefit the team, but I bet the team would tell them to enter the draft.
So we can debate that it is selfish to enter the draft instead of staying a year, but I bet there isn't a player on the team that would be selfish and beg them to stay, knowing this is what they all dream of.

What more does he have to prove other than trying to get LSU to the playoff
Well, with a healthy Chaisson and Fehoko, he may very well eclipse a few records on the way to the CFB.
Also he would solidify his place as the best LB in LSU history. But I expect him to go on to the NFL in April and wreck shite.

By all means, I would love to see him come back. And, I truly believe it will be a hard decision for him to leave LSU. But, it will be nearly impossible for him to pass up that kind of money, given the risk of injury especially when he'll get doubled and tripled teamed in every game. If he comes back, wow what a game changer for next year with more experience, depth, and health throughout an already incredible defense. If he leaves, I see absolutely no problem with it - he has given his all.

All the people here saying that this or that decision is "the right decision" are ridiculous. The right decision is the one he makes for himself, period.

One thing is certain,he’s a high character individual

Yes, I realize college is great, he wants to win, etc. but this isn't even close.
O knows the right answer is to go, and O should tell him to go.

Would be awesome if he came back. It could happen. They have been elite players on other teams that have returned for their senior years. It's not like it hasn't happened before. Yes it's highly unlikely.

Amen brother, if being patient with the NFL and returning for another year and giving it another shot is what he wants then I'm all for it. No one can say it's the wrong decision if that is the decision he makes. Why would anyone hope for anything different?
