He got rolled up on pretty good so it wouldn't be shocking. The Swamp would be a tough place for Cole Smith to get his first start but that kid didn't miss a beat Saturday. He wasn't highly rated because of the high school he played at in Mississippi but he showed out in camps and Cregg loves him. That's good enough for me.

He is 30 lbs lighter than Cushenberry. He isn’t strong enough for the SEC. They were likely redshirting him.

So let me get this straight, OL this weekend will likely be:

Charles-Campbell-Smith-Lewis-Deculus

1st string LT-2nd string LG-3rd string C-2nd string RG-2nd string RT

And Campbell/Deculus were actually 3rd string at one point. I guess we could say Deculus outright won the RT job now though, interesting to see if they put Magee back there this week with Charles back.

He wasn't too low. At one point near the end of the recruiting cycle, ESPN had him rated as our top recruit.

Edit: He finished as our 3rd highest ranked recruit.

I know this wasn't his knee, but why don't our O lineman wear knee braces? I see a lot of other teams and their entire O lines wear knee braces.

Ingram is suspended. You mean Lewis, I think.

He probably is referring to Bama whose OL all wear them.

Yes but he was the starter originally, hence 2nd string for Lewis there.

To be fair, Lewis was starting at OG prior to Ingram suspension. O said in offseason that he was their best OL.

They said they wanted to get Lewis on the field because they thought he was good, he never actually beat out Ingram though, he just ended up winning it by default at fall camp when Ingram was suspended.
