Please spare me any credit to Coach Cregg - obviously both received no coaching here and STILL are benefiting from Brady’s system, Burrows presnap checks/quick release.

Jefferson made it too, right?

With all that five star talent how could we fail?

We had a good Oline in 2019. It just wasn’t the best in the country despite some random award

Crege gets heat because of his recruiting mostly, more than on the field.

So you are more qualified at rating an o-lines performance than the 128 FBS o-line coaches who vote?

Do you honestly think 128 FBS Oline coaches break down 128 teams films to decide this award?

No they just vote for whoever had the best offense that year.

Literally no one had even heard of that award until we won it. Stop acting like it means anything of substance.

Do you honestly think voters break down film on every player in college football to decide who wins the Heisman?

No they just vote for the best offensive player on a high ranked team.

Stop acting like it means anything of substance.

Yep. The logic applies to the heisman as well

Gregg has had one good OL and two that were pretty bad. Couple that with his continued recruiting misses, I don’t understand why anyone would feel strongly about him staying

Yep. Coming off a natty and the Joe Moore award, this was the best he could do at a position of need? I love Dellinger, but this OL class was a major disappointment. Position coaches have to recruit well

I’m willing to give him a pass for 2018 - we lost all 5 starters from the previous year, and had a revolving door throughout 2018 due to injuries. And those guys got a LOT better in 2019, regardless of Burrow’s mobility. I think the development of Cush, Charles, and Lewis from first time LSU starters in 2018 into NFL starters as rookies in 2020 has to mean something. Especially when two of them make an all-rookie team.

All of that said, the 2020 OL was nowhere near the same situation as 2018. Everybody on our OL this year had starting experience (though Shanahan obviously came from a different league).

Recruiting is another thing entirely - I looked at the numbers a while back and it’s clear that LSU is struggling to recruit OL partially due to an unusually low number of available in-state recruits over the past few years. However, that doesn’t excuse the numbers. It seems Cregg has been putting a lot of eggs in relatively few baskets the last couple of years. We got bailed out by COVID eligibility, luckily.

I’ve seen enough to think it’s worth giving him a chance.. but if the OL doesn’t show vast improvement next year with 5 starters returning, I have to think he will run out of rope.
