It’s crazy because it seemed like they stuck through his awful play to develop/retain him and he ends up still leaving. He’s one of the worst 18+ mpg players we’ve ever had. Says a lot after Juice Hill was so bad, he was bullied off the team.
It’s just funny how this is now the norm in college basketball, yet we’ve been told that we just needed time and stability to get better.

In the wide open NIL era, even your players are going to leave. And Givens isn't a top player
So the excuse for year 1 (excuse me, year 0) is BS

Good. He sucked anyway

Good luck to Curtis on his next team.......and the one after that.......and the one after that...........

There is no sense in sweating the drama (or lack thereof) around this basketball program. I guess I will just renew my one ticket and
1) watch a podunk preseason schedule,
2) begin the SEC schedule with a winning record,
3) lose 2 or 3 SEC games
4) quit going to watch this crap by February
than wash rinse repeat.............

If we get the guard from Howard, we will know precisely why he is in the portal.
Givens was beyond awful last year. Top 50, 4 star guard. How can you not be a good 3 point shooter?

He’s transferring because we’re getting better talent in the portal and he won’t get any playing time.
Or he found out what some of the transfers are getting and now he wasn’t able to negotiate more from LSU.

Only two players from last year returning. Cue up another year zero!

Maybe, but what leverage does a sophomore with bad tape have to get a pay increase. I would assume he is looking to step down in level of competition and improve his value, then return to a major.

You guys can use this to insult McMahon all you want, but this kid isn't an SEC player. He was highly rated and had a lot of opportunities. He just isn't good enough for this league. Anyone who actually watched the team knows this was a wasted roster spot.
If the spot is properly upgraded, that's actually a plus for McMahon. To me, digging in and insisting that these guys should work out would be a huge negative. McMahon is just trying to play the game of upgrading the roster each year. (So far, yes, it doesn't look like he's good at that game. But as a fan, I want to see him get better at it as long as he's here.)
Notice only Chest has stayed in the SEC, and I don't know that he's an SEC starter either. You watched him shoot, right?
I hope they all do well wherever they go, but I think we kept the main two worth keeping.

I don't see how fans can stay interested in a roster that has 100% annual turnover
They can’t. The best you can hope for is to, at any one time, have assembled an endearing group of players that bring fans together for one season with their play and perhaps an exciting tourney run

Another option is not getting invested in college basketball (in its current form). The one and done culture did this to college basketball, not the fans.

Team was terrible last year. Most transfers have gone to lower programs out of SEC.

They’ve made it clear CMM needs to make the tournament or he is gone

Hell, we had 3 back from the previous year on "year zero".

Don’t forget we’ll lose to one of those podunk teams.

Givens heard that Miller's deal was upped because Indiana was trying to get him to leave LSU. So he decided he also deserved a better deal only MM didn't see it that way and he's leaving. That plus seeing Thomas and some other guards being signed or being recruited. Anyone putting this on the coach is clueless. Players are leaving all over the place. And no there is no excuse anymore. Either MM figures it out and gets the talent he needs or he's gone. So no year 0 anymore. Every year is going to be year 0 in NCAA basketball from now on for just about everyone..

Big if. Knowing McMahon, we'll bring a guy in, barely play him and then post about what an upgrade it is next offseason when he announces his transfer.
