Stanfield is a very good fielder. He gets to plenty of balls.
He was pretty lost at times in center. Glad to see the move.

Both are great players and teammates. We are lucky to have them both.

Curiel was probably promised at least a year in CF as part of him coming to school.

There's probably at least a smidgen of "promise to play center" going on, but Curiel had a lot expected of him coming into last year, and while with hindsight he really delivered, its possible that Jay felt there was no reason to shove him into CF out of the gate. The CF is the de facto captain of the OF so as a freshman coming in it isn't crazy to start him off in a corner spot to ease him in. Stanfield had the occasional goof, but overall was really good in center so never really gave Jay a reason to swap them. I think Curiel knew he was gonna be CF this year.

Curiel deserves it. He has earned it.

A rare upvote from me to you.

Curiel also has a very good arm which will be very helpful in center field. Stanfield doesn’t have the same type of arm, he will bring a lot to left field I like the move.

Why would anyone doubt a move by Jay Johnson??

I have decided to put a portrait of jay johnson above our mantle in the living room.

I'm agreeing with Da Hammer on arm comparison. Curiel's arm is above average. Stanfield's is below average.
I will try to make all 3 Scrimmages starting tomorrow. Tune in if you are interested in the BPB and what tidbits I can share.

What do y’all think the first lineup is gonna be for the scrimmage tomorrow?
Posted on 10/8/25 at 6:27 pm to SEC Doctor
Stanfield is such a great ambassador for LSU. CJJ got a great kid in Stanfield, love this kid!

It'll be split squad. Not all of the projected starters will be on the same team.

Positions to pay attention to for scrimmages:
Catcher
1B
2B
3B
OF and SS are pretty settled.
