re: Critics of the offense can't see the forest for the trees...(2009-2012)

Certainly not my intention to be dishonest...The numbers are what the numbers are up to this point in 2012. I look forward to seeing the numbers 8-10 games from now, and unless there is a dramatic dropoff the rest of this season, it looks pretty likely that the upward trend of offense since 2009 is continuing. That said, there's no way for me to "fast forward" the 2012 numbers....At this point, they are what was posted. The only other way to do it is to look at only the first four games of the 2009-2011 seasons, and that doesn't really tell you anything given that you're totally missing the overall progression from 2009 to now by disregarding 70% of the games.
My only point is for fans to be patient with the offense....Our offense has gotten incrementally better each year since 2009, and based on what we've seen thus far in 2012 and finally having a prototypical QB with a solid arm, we're definitely poised to continue that improving trend as this season continues to play out.

Agree with all of your post. I think the main problem is that what CLM is good at, is missed by most casual fans.
Bear Bryant is considered by most to be the greatest CFB coach ever. Vince Lombardi gets the same respect in the pro game. What were those guys known for? Clock management? Game management? Great offensive minds?
They were known for being some tough, ornery and mean damn men who built football teams that reflected their own personalities. They built some "damn strong" football teams. They were charismatic leaders of men who there players loved and respected and would run through fire for. This is what Les Miles is good at and its those qualities that has allowed him to win so many games and to make LSU the envy of every school not named Alabama.
The rantards don't understand football at this level. Football is a "hurt business" and to win consistently you have be more of a MAN than the other guy. CLM is a master at teaching this.

JP, I think you need to keep in mind our strength of schedule as well. Easier to score point on weaker opponents than stronger ones, especially stronger D. Also, how many turnovers did we get that resulted in short fields? It is more complicated than just more yards and more points means our offense is way better.

but I can damn well be critical of what I saw on the field against a team that gave up 38 points to ULM.
Eh, it was the same players, same school, but different effort than the team that gave up 38 points to ULM.
I'm not saying that people can't, or shouldn't, be frustrated or critical of Les Miles' game plans. It just seems to me that constantly banging your head against a wall about it can't be good for anyone's health.
Being frustrated or critical isn't going to change that he will only do what he thinks is necessary for victory.

Facts have no place on this board.

Agreed.
But, please...PLEASE...don't use expressions Rex loves to use. Thanks!

The problem was uncharacteristically sloppy play Saturday night against an Auburn team with its back against the SEC wall. We kept them in that game with drops, penalties, and fumbles.
Indeed. If the score was 22-7 or 25-7, there wouldn't be such an uproar. Had nothing to do with the playcalling. The OL is a concern like everyone is saying, but that's about the only thing that I agree with.
I've tried and successfully to cut back on the posts here. Grown arse men whining more than my 2 year old girl.

I agree with your basic sentiment. Miles has his flaws but probably doesn't get enough credit in this area.
