The ra ra of O is less effective if the players don't respect him for different reasons.

If someone isn’t doing their job pull them, it’s the simplest and most effective motivation there is.

I wonder if his message has gotten stale. I hope not but the defense is playing with no passion

The only thing stale is the dumb takes around here this season.

Why are they not motivated? They have to have some rah rah?

I don’t think respect for O is a factor. These are his players that he recruited hard. Lack of intensity after the NC and frankly a lot of kids who just don’t want to play hard because they’re not motivated.

I think Marshall is a 1st rounder and he is playing like it

He is definitely our biggest offensive weapon and is a great player but he has made some key drops and made some drive killing mistakes also. Not the leader WR we are used to with championship caliber teams IMO.

The players don’t know how to play in this system. You don’t give up 5 16yd or more TDs to Missouri and say the players on playing for you or understand how to play in your system. Massive busted defensive assignments every game. It looks worse than the start of 2013 when Micah Eugene was trying to play Mathieu’s role.

They should show them the film they show recruits and bring back a couple of the NFL guys to remind them of the level of play we expect at LSU. These kids are playing for their financial futures in the NFL. If the D keeps playing the way they play, some of these Jr & Sr will fall down the draft boards.

Maybe O needs to punch himself in the face or something

I don't know if motivation is the right word, they kinda look lost out there.

Not going into whether Pelini's good or not- my understanding is that it was a BIG change in scheme, and even in a normal offseason there'd have been growing pains.
We didn't have a normal offseason to learn it.

Coupled with some key losses, both draft/graduation and later the opt-outs, the team on defense looks both confused and raw.
We knew Ricks was going to make freshman mistakes, we expected Stingley to handle business, and Flott to step up too. And we planned on Kary Vincent playing a lot.

Ed Ingram mcmath maybe 2nd-3rd rounders

No way McMath is a second or third rounder. He's not even the third best wr on the team. Racey is a good depth guy. 4th or 5th wr type. He has straight line speed but he isn't a polished route runner, he's lacking that game nuance a good wr needs.

Maybe he can't. Hard to bring a team back to life once they've checked out.

By telling them they are the defending National Champions but are now the laughing stock of college football.

For the young guys, and they are a lot of the talent on this team, this is your chance to prove yourself worthy of playing time and get on the field.

From what I've seen, a Win will be the greatest motivation. 2 wins in a row would really turn this team in the right direction.

Do what Saban does and bring in some NFL scout to give kids a lower grade on purpose so they stay and are motivated.
