The problem is pelinis system is too frickin hard for them. I lacked motivation in school when a class was too hard for no reason outside of being arbitrarily complex. They probably feel the same way. Just make it simple, play man and get out there. Let the athletes do their thing... let them play and not have to over think shite.

That is your motivation issue right there man. Who tf wants to play in that system?

So playing well and winning the game is not motivation enough? Who knew?

It’s a fair point. I remember those unnecessarily complex classes also. Hated them with a passion.

I think motivation is 50% of the problem on defense.

You think motivation is the reason why everyone looks confused and our LBers stand flat footed as they try to figure out what they are supposed to do?

Why would motivation only be an issue on one side of the ball?

I think Orgeron’s preseason comment about the defense being better than last year really went to their heads, players and coaches. Thinking they were the shite and didn’t need improvement. They were comfortable and thought they would just show up and dominate. Probably wrote off the Miss St game as a fluke and when they got Stingley back everything would change. Again got overconfident after shutting down Vandy (7pts). My hope is the Mizzou game was a wake up call and they took full advantage of the by week to get their shite together.

If the embarrassment of how they’ve preformed this far is enough of a motivation to the team and coaches I do t think there’s much O can do to change that

If your a player on a team like LSU and you need motivation then maybe your not the right person for the roster. I would have been super hyped every week to be on LSU’s roster

if you're motivated and don't know where to be or what to do, it doesn't make any difference.

It mostly has to come from within, from players who are leaders. All these guys were stars, probably the best players on their respective teams and most have pro dreams, but that doesn’t t make them leaders. Some of it is from youth, some from inexperience. But motivation has to come from within the players. It’s up to the coaches to identify leaders and maybe sit a few players and give others an opportunity.

I agree that his comment did a disservice to everyone. BUT I don't think you can look at our D and say that "over confidence" is there issue. Maybe it was an excuse against State but in the Mizzou game I would have settled for "tentatively optimistic" cuz our D had no confidence at all.

They're just being poorly coached right now, and I'm sure *that* is having an effect on motivation.

This defense has seen a precipitous drop in the quality of coaching with the exit of Aranda and they know that they're not being prepared as well.

The mass exodus of top level talent (unprecedented in numbers) makes 2020 a huge challenge for the LSU coaches, not their fault if it looks bad for awhile.....which it will.
