Reed and Miller on the shelf early when the O boards were happening most was alarming. Nwoka, plus 2 above getting more minutes will help …. I “think” we’ll be ok on the glass this year.
Team speed outside of Thomas could be an issue …. But i sure like what I see from him.

Agreed..considering the offensive structure beyond simply having the PG create off a ball screen is largely non-existent.

McKinnon appears to be better than I expected,

He did a good job on the catch and shoot, put made a few plays for others. But this is the level of competition he's used to. He had a tendency to get swallowed up a bit with level of athlete increase.

I'm still not sold we'll have the physicality needed,

Nwoko has it. But he's been a foul machine his entire career, thus limiting his time on the court. It's great being physical. But it doesn't help when you're on the bench. I like Tamba's energy. He probably has the most on the team. But again, he has issues with fouls. You also have to keep in mind TSU lost their top rebounder to an early ejection. He had 5 in 8 minutes.

quote:

But I'm cautiously and very cautiously, optimistic.

LSU has blown out their opponent in each of the season openers in the last two years. The shot over 50% and thoroughly dominated those games. Then they were awful in the very next game. UNO probably scored the biggest upset of the week. So we should get to see relatively quickly if this team can maybe sustain its good play, or if this is just another opening game illusion. The eternal optimist and dozen members of the McMahon fan club don't like to hear that. But when you have a .450 winning % you don't get the benefit of the doubt.

Giving up a bunch of offensive rebounds has zero to do with our offensive shooting %.

Good win,but after about 15 games we will know if there going to be descent. By then they will have played about 3 sec games and we will know what there going to look like this year.

It’s one game against a bad team but I like what I see, much more talented, more size, shooting and athleticism. We rarely imposed our will on anybody the last three seasons.

Last night was a nice win. However, in year 1 under McMahon, LSU started 11-1, then beat Arkansas going to 12-1, and ended the season 2-15. Last year, started 11-2 and then went 3-15 in conference.

McMahon's teams look great in November and December against lower competition, but aren't competitive in the SEC. Maybe this year's team will be different. I hope we are competitive Jan - March 2026. We'll see.

I'll be watching and rooting for them.

You just can’t tell much from games like that. The concern is some of the issues we’ve always had with this coach are still apparent. The lack of defense, the rebounding and the bizarre rotation were all there last night so after 4 years we can say there are just baked into the cake with him. They’re not going to be addressed.

I realize where he came from and the competition he played, but there are things you can judge that don't rely on who you are playing - I was pleasantly surprised by those, I don't expect him to be an all-SEC player and I know he could shoot, but other things were the reasons he exceeded what I expeced...athleticism for one.

to be improved they really have to cut down on those turnovers. can't live with 15 or more turnovers per game like in the past. maybe as they gel together through the non-conference and begin to shrink the rotations slightly that number will come down.

They were projected 5/7 in their league...

agreed I really like max M as a secondary distributor. he has to be guarded behind the 3 pt line and and he is good at taking a few steps towards the lane to draw defenders and then finding a nice bounce pass down low.

I like Thomas and McKinnon a lot. I think they both know what they are doing.

Reece as well.

credit him for what? one game in vs the equivalent of a girls high school team and we looks lackluster? McMahon sucks, and will be fired this year. mark my words.

Yep, looked exactly like a Matt McMahon team to me….careless with the ball, sloppy offensive sets with a lot of my “athletes beat your athletes”mentality….will get blown out against SEC teams

How many MM team's have you seen that have had 2 players with 8 or more assists? How many MM teams have you seen shoot over 40% from 3 in 2 games? How about 4 capable bigs to keep a fresh rotation and everyone out of foul trouble.

We could take care of the ball a bit better, but we also had 21 assists...which may be a record for a MM team. Also only gave up 3 fast break points...which has historically been a problem with his teams.

The only thing sloppy about the game was if you tried to watch the game on YouTube.

What part of the offense was sloppy and how do you think they could've done better?

Let's see how you do with explaining these stupid arse comments.

They snagged 5 more offensive rebounds than us. I don't know if that would be considered a glaring weakness just yet. You mfs ain't buying in to this team until we play better teams, but you sure like to criticize. I don't get it

they do love to hate.

what I find interesting is that if you mention that the allegation that team was underfunded until recently they are apparently insiders that know this to be a dirty lie. not sure how they know that but they will scream it and yell at anyone who isn't sure.

I dont know but it seems possible they were operating with a lower than average budget until recently.

I like this team I think they could finish in the top half of the league. I especially like mackinnon Thomas and miller.

Nobody’s talking to you. You and your boyfriend should stick to sucking each other off and lying to each other. Nobody else is interested in your retardation.

Except for you who felt the need to respond. Curious of your take after the first 2 outings.
