He was 0-4 w 2 Ks yesterday coming back from his shoulder injury.a couple weeks ago. I think he might be rushing back and he might not even play much.

That is possible, but it’s not definitive. The 3 teams at 16 & 11 must complete their series, and of course we must complete ours. Then we have to look at the updated rpi rankings and head-to-head details.

Auburn scored 46 runs against them in 3 games. If we can't win this series, do we even deserve to host?

Is that true?

It's true that his staff recruited them. Not sure that CPM was all that involved though

No it’s not. Dude was at every LSU game, in LSU gear after he left. Everyone really wants to win against their former school. Nothing more nothing less for Pawl.

I had the same thought but USC is not a very good team. They’ve stacked wins against lower quads and Q1 record is something like 4-24.

On the flip side I can see Jay having his boys ready to play too and I think he shows CPM that he left the program in good hands. They seemed to have a good relationship when CJJ came in. I don’t imagine CPM harbors any ill will against LSU and has some kind of revenge streak in mind.

Even if true, all he can do is try putting his best players out there. He can't play.

define "recruited"

did he (or his staff) start the process while they were still here? probably.

But Milam for example was still only a sophomore in High School Paul's final season here.
Anderson was only a Junior.

All of the players mentioned were committed to LSU while Mainieri was the head coach.

It wasn't until very recently that contact rules changed and commitments were limited to juniors and up.

The current freshmen are part of the first class that consisted solely of guy that committed while Jay Johnson was the head coach.

ETA: Ethan Frey is another. Jace Laviolette was committed to LSU under Mainieri. So three of the largest players in the SEC were committed to play for a guy that only recruited 5'6" 130 lb middle infielders.

Great post. Frankly, I don’t think Brown, Anderson, Frey, or Pearson were ever gonna be anywhere else under any circumstances but maybe im wrong.

With all due appreciation for what Paul did when he gave a shite, his last few years he wasn’t present in recruiting. I don’t think that’s a secret.

Can’t be mad at the guy for making the comment though because I have no context for it. I’m sure he was just saying it in the sense he knows some of the kids and it will be hard to coach against them bc of those relationships.

I doubt he was taking credit for their success or anything.

And? You asked someone to define what he meant. I defined what he meant.

I didn't take it that way.

when you hear players talk about other coaches at other schools, they often say something like "I know _____, he recruited me when I was in High School"

So even if you don't ultimately sign for that person, you still say that person recruited you and built some form of relationship with you.

They can be motivated as all hell. It won’t matter. They don’t have the horses. They have played well and beat the teams with similar or less talent. They are a couple years away from any type of serious baseball. If they play their best ball tonight, and pitch their best arms they may can steal one, or keep it close. After that nothing. We will run rule them if Saturday.

he was so hurt and distraught he hung out at the stadium every game with Skip for 3 years after being pushed out. The series may certainly be emotional for Paul, though.

South Carolina has given up 85 runs over their last 6 SEC games. The offense should have a great weekend.
