Stoops isn't in play. The only reason he was mentioned in the first place is so that when they make an uunderwhelming hire the fan base will breathe a collective sigh of relief and go, "Well, at least it's not Stoops."

Ok, this is what I hope miles is doing......He's getting Bricks hopes up to getting the job, then when he hires CP, Brick will get pissed and leave because he didn't get it........then we bring in O.

If they plan on having a DC hired by the weekend they aren't totally lost in the search

I think Ro-D is holding down the defensive recruits and Wilson the rest.
Maybe it's just me, but as far as D-line recruiting goes, call me unimpressed w Haley. I think Valentine was more Corey than anyone, and look at all the D-line guys that can't make it onto the field.
If CP opts NFL or just won't agree to terms that Miles is allowed to offer, I would be very satisfied w a Shoop/Orgeron deal. Shoop doesn't have a brand name recruiting yet, and Orgeron's got that. Shoop has proven himself schematically, IMO.

I love how the first 5 or 6 pages of this thread was everybody saying how this meant Stoops was going to be the DC and that this was the WORST THING EVAR and that any other scenario was preferable. Then when it came out that the interest with Stoops was not serious the criticisms just changed without missing a beat.
At this point, it's just boiled down to the people who hate Miles or who are shills for other teams trying to affect recruiting bashing LSU for any rumor they can find and the people who defend Miles no matter what doing just that (defending any rumor or talk regarding any rumor).
It's kind of great actually.
