If MS was a championship contender every year like Bama, Clemson, would there be more outrage over the cowbell advantage. It's a unfair advantage against opponents trying to call audibles and only MS is allowed to do this. If Saban ever lost because his team missed an audible, the ban would already be in effect. Is it the fact that State is a non factor in the Natty race that allows them to continue? I really don't care much about it but, would a ban cause rioting in the street for this great tradition?

We'll never know.

Honestly, I went to Starkville two years ago and will be there tomorrow. They do a great job of stopping the bells when they're supposed to. And the people who don't get shamed by everyone around them.

Edit:
That being said it is the worst experience in the world being in that stadium as a visitor.

Not what I wanted to hear, CajunPete, considering it will be my first ever SEC away game to be able to attend. My luck sucks. Lol

I bet you WOULD 'care about it', IF you ever attended a game in close proximity to a few of these cow bell ringing MORONS...LOL

I just find it hard to believe that if it came down to the wire, and state needed one stop on defense to take down a top 5 team in the country, people would not ring the bells like crazy when they aren't supposed to

When the score is 35-0 early in the 2nd quarter, the cowbell ringers will be filing out quickly.

Pretty sure Florida is the worst SEC-visitor experience. Never been to Starkville though, but in my experience most SEC fan bases are usually pretty hospitable except Florida.

Jump out early and punch them in the mouth and the bells will not be an issue.

The ironic thing is that the majority of elite athletes don't want to play in front of a bunch of cowbells because it's such a dumb tradition. That is why moo state will never maintain a consistent top ten team. If you're an elite athlete and you're surrounded by teams like Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida etc, why on earth would you choose a bunch of cowbells unless you have ties there?

No one is answering the question in general. If state was ranked number 1 or 2, wouldn't you think there would be more bells and much louder?

There was about a 5 week period in 2014 where this would've mattered but probably never again for the rest of time lol

Traditions are what makes college football special.
The cowbell, while stupid, is an 80 year old tradition.
Moo State fans have been good with the compromise rules.
If not, ref throws a personal foul on the fans, 15 yards and 1st down.

Maybe we could ask Matt Wyatt if they've ever been penalized. We could also ask him how distracting it is.

Honestly dude, don't know and don't care. Let them have their cowbells. It's their tradition and while annoying to us, we all have our traditions that may be annoying to others. It's part of what makes college football special.

In fairness, he did say he was there two years ago...the year LSU got their butts stomped by 30 points.
