Covid Question related to National Championship

Does anyone on here who was in attendance in New Orleans for the national championship, specifically remember getting sick that same week or shortly there after. It would’ve been around January 13-20th.
I remember driving back to Dallas that week, and got severely sick when I got back. Started with a sore throat, uncontrollable cough, and body aches. It was the worst imaginable flu-like symptoms I’ve ever had, but worse. I remember being sick for 1-2 weeks after until it finally subsided. I went and got tested for the flu, during the middle of my sickness, but the MD said it showed a very slight positive for a strain of flu A, but wasn’t a definite diagnosis.
Given the new epicenter New Orleans is, and the snowball effect of Mardi Gras had on the transmission of this virus, I was just curious if anyone who was down in New Orleans at the game felt horrible shortly after. I have a suspicion coronavirus was in New Orleans even then.
Wash your hands continuously, and stay home best you can

For me, it’s always a 50/50 shot Im going to pick up something after being around 100,000 other people.

I highly doubt this thing was in the dome. Would’ve probably led to an outbreak in BR around the beginning of Feb.

That’s a valid point, you could be right. But on the same hand I don’t believe it all just happened recently down there. Not sure how many people would’ve gone to the Dr or been affected with symptoms bad enough to realize they had something other than the a really bad case of flu.

The Tuesday before the natty I had a doctors appointment, just a regular checkup. The night before I had a cough but nothing terrible. The morning of the appointment I had a high fever and felt like death. (Wife had been sick so I figured I caught what she had)
Told my doctor while I was there and he did a flu test and it came back as positive (he said the type but I don’t remember). Gave me Tamiflu, finished it the Saturday before the natty.
Went down to New Orleans on Sunday. Felt better on Sunday and was good to go on gameday. Just weak from barely eating.

There are always thousands of cases of the Voodoo Flu after Mardi Gras.

I saw tons of people dressed in orange who were sick when I left the dome. Not sure if it was Rona.

I don’t think it was covid-19 although it’s possible I guess.
I do know I had the exact same shite at the same time. About a day after I flew back for the next three damn weeks I had the longest cold and sinus infection I’ve ever had.
Based on tiger droppings there was definitely something going around down there. I think only a small chance exist it was Covid though. Not enough dead old people since then.

But there’s only a 50% chance of that

Maybe that’s just because we weren’t necessarily “counting” that. There was definitely a nasty something going around late December/January

I got pretty sick and threw up a couple hours after the game, guessing it was corona related, and not all the alcohol i had consumed

I had flown down from Montana for the game, and when I got home on Thursday after the game I came down with the exact thing you describe. I went to the doctor to make sure I didn’t have strep throat. Strep throat test was negative and the doctor said I had some kind of flu bug. I coughed for six weeks.

I got sick Jan 22. It took me down for a week and I had a persistent dry cough solid for a month but that lasts to this day (it's only random now). The cough was so bad I threw up a couple of times. My son also got sick for a week and prior to that had never been sick more than two days in a row.
Went to the doctor twice and tested negative for flu. It was viral he said lol.
I def wonder.

The day of the game we drove down. I couldn’t eat or drink anything due to sever nausea. The next day I was still feeling bad but tried to eat breakfast. Had severe diarrhea, laid up in couch all day with chills and aches. Got over it that day except for the diarrhea, had it for about 3 more days. No clue where it came from because I couldn’t eat.
It was worth it though because the game was awesome.

It was probably the flu.

I was fine after the game. But I always know there's a chance I could catch something when I go to that disgusting city so I prepare for it.

I've been flu free the entire year except for the last 3 weeks. The last three weeks it started with sinus irritation then a sore throat that moved into my lungs (no cough and no fever) associated with muscle cramps about 3 days ago. All the symptoms were like mild flu. I woke up yesterday and all the symptoms were gone. The entire time I was chalking it up to seasonal allergies but seasonal allergies usually come with runny nose and watery eyes which I had only for a couple of days (typical for this time of year). I hope it was the mild form of COVID and now I have natural immunity. I did attend Mardi Gras in NO so the chances of me contracting the COVID are higher than normal. I guess the only way to check is to go to doctor and get an antibodies test. I'll wait for things to calm down before I do that...I don't want to demand medical services from an already taxed medical community when it's not an emergency.

It also looks like Louisiana is winning the Covid-19 National Championship!
