We want to get overlooked by the Cap One Bowl. The Cotton Bowl is much more interesting for us.

More people will watch the capital one bowl so the exclusive national stage doesn't mean shite
with three other bowls playing in the middle of the day at the same time as cap one, I don't see the attraction. cotton also has a primetime slot as opposed to a noon start.

In the past the capital one might have gotten better ratings, but with cotton being the lone game at prime time this year compared to cap1 going against 2 other bowl games and the rose later that day, the cotton bowl will def have the better ratings this year.

The Capital One Bowl selects the next highest ranked SEC team, after the Sugar Bowl.

That would be us, not Alabama.

We would get a higher ranked opponent by going to the Cap One.

The issue is, most of the time Bowls don't like to take the same team in back-to-back yrs, and since we went to the Cap One last year.....they can select Bama to play in their game.

LSU has given indications to the SEC office that they would prefer to go to Dallas ahead of Orlando this year.

the cap one had two really big draws in Penn St. and LSU last year.

The Cotton had Ok St. and Ole Miss. Two really really regional programs with absolutely no star power without Dez Bryant being in the game. If you flip the opponents I'd wager the Cotton would have won that ratings battle.

The cotton has since moved and is in prime time and is the only game of the day. I think MSU Bama and A&M LSU would have very very similar ratings, with the lack of competition giving the Cotton the advantage.

While this is correct, I think you may be failing to realize that the Cotton is now on Jan 7th at 7pm. The only game to show on that day.

While cap 1 is on new years day with 3 other bowls.

I don't agree with the prime time arguement. How many people aree really home to watch a game at 7:00 on a Friday night? If that was such a great timee slot the NFL would play games then when the colleg season is over. If LSU isn't in the cotton bowl I'll probably be out somewhere eating dinner with friends.

Except you are taking on a weaker lower ranked team from a weaker less respected conference. It looks like a dodge...Are we afraid to take on the Big 10 conference shared champions with 1 loss and higher ranking????

The bowls get to choose, so how is it a dodge? LSU is not going to decline an invite to the cap 1 to avoid playing Michigan St.

The Cap One is a better bowl but Joe Alleva reads the OT and based the bowl decision on what the rantards wanted

I don't think so. I think the NCAA rules allow the samee amount of practices for each game, so LSU would just start practice a week later allowing more rust on the offense.

Someone please explain to me why Bama is going to the cap one bowl and not us?
There is no explaining it except that Cap 1 officials are seeing that many shallow minded, whimpy LSU fans would rather go see their team play in a big shiny new stadium against a lower ranked team in a no win situation. Makes lots of sense to me.
