Rooad, having played some rugby for LSU it think you're comment is dickless.
quote:Same thing for the Quidditch team. They are uber tough. Their long socks and brooms are as manly as the nut-grabbing buggery that goes on in rugby.
Tough sport played by tough people, almost no finacical backing from LSU.

To the guy who posted that college teams routinely defeat the best men's teams in the country. Dude, I played for Santa Monica and we our B side slaughtered every college team we faced. Our A side never even faced a college team because of the risk of injury. No way a college team (even Berkeley) comes close to deafeating an OMBAC, Belmont Shore, NYAC, or Santa Monica A side. The difference between college and elite (i.e. Super League or Division One) men's rugby is atronomical.
thats not so much true anymore...
Cal berkeley could/would probably beat at least half of the super league teams this year. BYU could give any of them a run for their money...but probably lose.
Now the rest of college teams...you are right, they dont have a chance

Also, both BYU and Colorado State (the team LSU beat Sunday morning) beat the Denver Barbos within the last month.
BYU played the Barbos SL team. CSU played the D2 side.
Tiger11, you in Denver playing with the Barbos? I think you mentioned that was your plan a while back. I'm heading up there in a couple weeks to visit some friends and watch the Glendale-Aspen match at Infinity Park.

Like I stated in an earlier post, Cal is hardly a typical college team. As good as a lot of these college teams are, I know that the men's teams in California would destroy them (several of our American players played at Cal and we fielded teams comprised of good foreign players). I imagine that BYU is loaded with islanders, right?

full islander backline, all about 24 and older...average college kid age right?
they have a hooker who is about 5-10 320 and legs the side of my waist...and can move for his size

Na...South African professor who started the club in 1970 did. It is a Zulu word meaning "field/place of slaughter".
Yep, Rob Haswell, former Geography teacher/instructor, later MP in South Africa.
I played for LSU from 1970-1977. LSU Rugby has one of the best (if not THE Best) winning percentages of any sport on campus.
We used to tell other teams, when they asked us what it meant -- "It means that this is the place your dreams will die"...
Say what you will about it being a club sport, but the players play for the game, for sport, and for the friendship--with each other and with the other team....AFTER the game.

this is rugby all over the world, not just at LSU, or in the US

Yep, but there were a number of posters who don't seem to be familiar with the game. Then there are a bunch who posted who definitely know a lot about it.
Oh....I should mention LSU beat a Texas Tech team a few weeks ago in Dallas ....120 - 0 .
Geaux Tigers!!

The good old 7 year degree. By chance were you related to another rugby player that went by Chunks? He mastered the 7 year degree as well, and he wasn't a post-grad, doctor or lawyer.
Hopefully that draws Sir "Chunks" Nastiness into the mix.

I didn't see you all ranked in the top 25 in the link provided earlier in the post. Was this in error?

injuries and bad officiating caught us this year...we'll be back next year though. And maybe you guys won't get every freaking call
Posted on 4/7/09 at 4:05 pm to fightingtiger2335
Dude, you are delusional if you think you played LSU "A". Maybe SLU should worry more about fielding a team and not forfeiting.

Those damned islanders are a rough bunch. I was supposed to play on a touring side in Western Samoa and the tour was cancelled because of deaths on the pitch, poor refereeing and all-around vicious play. There used to be a team in Orange County called the Islanders. They were later banned for various violent indiscretions. The BYU rugby team sounds typical of all BYU sports, 24 year-old men playing against 18 and 19 year-old boys. Ridiculous.

Not only were you blowing smoke up our asses about the superiority of SLU's rugby program, but you forgot to mention you all finished dead last pal.
But you always have next year. Go get him.

I told you injuries were a big part. Had a lot of them. But we still gave the LSU "A" team a game..w/ witnesses that said the refs gave it to them.
And i'll never shake their hands...I only shake hands of true competitors, not whiny bitches.

What day did you play our "A" team? Look at the attachment in busbeepbeep's post. It cleary says LSU "B".
Are they teaching reading comprehension over at SLU, Mr. True Competitor?
