Question is, will he be suspended all season like Dez Bryant for lying to the NCAA?

I guess better wording was that Shep didn't just follow standard procedure. Obviously he did something to interfere with the investigation in talking with his teammate, which is tampering. Not a wise thing to do.

I still don't think interfere is fair word, based on what's been released. Unless he coerced the teammate into lying for him or something equally sinister, I don't see how talking to a teammate interferes with their investigation.

How many jj sucks or shep is a bust threads have there been on the rant the past 2 years?? Now they are both probably out(shep for sure) and we're screwed. The rant needs to be put down, it is just a breeding ground for idiocy.

You have a housing issue and you not expected to talk to anyone? Is this the court of law?

I think it is. LSU wouldn't be taking such a proactive stand if they didn't think there was legitimate concern that Shep did something wrong here. I don't think Shep went out trying to make up some entire story to cover his arse, but likely interfered in some way, and he should've known better.

BATON ROUGE - LSU wide receiver Russell Shepard has been declared ineligible by LSU for violation of an NCAA rule, it was announced Thursday.

LSU will seek reinstatement for Shepard but he is expected to miss a number of games until the reinstatement can be considered by the NCAA. He can continue to practice with the team.

Shepard has been found by the NCAA and LSU to be in violation of Bylaw 32.1.4. Shepard was determined to have discussed an NCAA inquiry with a teammate who was scheduled to meet with an NCAA representative and his actions were deemed to have violated NCAA protocol.

No timeline has been determined for the reinstatement process.

He's not suspended. He's just ineligible until the NCAA approves LSU's application for reinstatement.

If it was Cam Newton, it'd be a done deal by tomorrow morning.

May be right. I'm just assuming there is a by law that specifically talks about interferring with an investigation. This language was so specific and narrow re talking to someone who is scheduled to appear before NCAA, yet doesn't mention an intentional element to mislead or interfere with NCAA investigation.

you can talk shite about ridley if you want, but i'm not going to pay you much mind since ive never seen you take part in any of those discussions

the only thing i was wrong about regarding ridley was where he was drafted. I'll leave it at that

I actually do but I'll be the first to admit i'm not able to make my point very well sometimes. Everyone has to start somewhere and even you can't deny we have guys with the ability to take over for Shep.

Oh, I don't believe Shep was trying to honestly tell a player a story to give them. I think he interfered without realizing it and likely was just talking to his teammate about what kinds of questions they asked him. Unfortunately, that is tampering.

I don't think so. Tampering involves intent. If he interfered negligent (without realizing)that's a completely different thing.

We do know that Shep was not involved with an agent.

I'm with you man. Trying to get info. from the Rant, reminds of, carrying 40lbs. of cement thru hip deep mud, while it's raining. I love this web-site, but it seems, we all get bogged down in shite rather than roses or sugar, if you like. The cleaning on here lacks. We will adapt and overcome. GEAUX TIGERS!! Bama's players were also reinstated with the quickness when Saban applied for them.

If LSU and the NCAA had been investigating the matter together for months and came together to deduce a violation occured, and then the NCAA deemed the violation not to warrant a suspension, then yes.
