Bruh, no he is not

He will catch the firing soon enough once we move past the football coaching hires

He doesn’t deserve a bunch of mulligans for his disappointments thus far. That said, this team looks dangerous, and has potential to significantly outperform preseason predictions. So let’s see what he does with it. Prove your value.

Matt McMahon is a very solid basketball coach who catches a lot of flack because he doesn’t show a ton of emotion on the bench

You think this is why he catches flack and not the fact his record here is abysmal? Come on man, this is just stupidity at its finest.

No one gives a damn what he does or doesn't do on the bench. We care about the product he's putting on the court. He's been a terrible coach here. Beating a few OOC teams doesn't change that.

If this isn't a troll, it's seriously one of the most tone-deaf takes I've ever read on here.

A lot of truths in this string of messages. This is the first year where most agree that there are no excuses, but it's also the first year that he's actually got enough SEC-level players to be competitive. I think he's more engaged because he knows he's not fighting a losing cause and he also knows it's put up or "bye Felicia."

We are definitely under-rated, but we've moved from a season-starting Kenpom rating of 53 and have made our way to 24. Chemistry looks good this early in the season and there's a lot to be optimistic about. Let's play tough and make a run this year.

Geaux Tigers!

This team isn’t beating Purdue, but it is unequivocally the best team in the McMahon era so far. Dedan Thomas is one of the best maestro PGs in the nation. We have quality depth down low.

That increased NIL budget helped, but McMahon did a good job getting guys that fit next to each other. This team seems to have great chemistry.

We are in his 4th year, the first 3 were complete failures, and you think people don’t like him because he’s quiet?

DePaul isnt some great team but they arent terrible either.

That's a team that was 14-20 last year and 3-29 the year before that. DePaul is a terrible basketball team.

Watching DePaul warm up before the game, it seemed like every shot was going in the basket. But LSU had them flustered the whole game and nothing seemed to work for them.

And go back and look at the games last year against the top ranked teams in the SEC. We were competitive in those games until late in 2nd half. AL, Auburn, Fl, Tenn. The only reason we lost those games was they had more talent and size and better PG
ok so you satisfied with moral victories?if that’s the case he will back next season if has another losing season

His supporters?. I’m An LSU supporter. I am rooting for LSU. Just as I did when Wade was here. Only a loser hopes LSU loses so a coach can be fired. And only an emotional bitch would watch this team play and not see the difference from his other teams. It’s not about how bad they are beating some subpar competition. It’s about how they are playing. It’s about the chemistry between the players so early in the season. It’s about having size and length for a change. It’s about having an elite PG. No one is saying this is a great team. But it is playing at a higher level than any of his other teams. How can you not be positive about that?

Great! I hope so. But up to this point he hasn’t showed anything better than some of the worst coaches we have had in the last decade or so. If he is a solid coach, we will know soon enough

Reed injured diff leg lower leg not good . The energy on D was highlight both games Mac and Thomas only playmakers I see. When they’re on we can score enough to beat people. Extreme lack of size and aggression in post will limit this team greatly against many of SECteams Miller is enigma has not one aggressive bone in his body.He could be worth 2 wins if he improves Depending on how strong the conference is overall . We can maybe sniff the bubble thru Feb. Matchups are everything with this team.

My point about being competitive in those SEC games is we were out talented in those games. It wasn’t coaching if you don’t have the players and he didn’t. $$$ is the difference this year. To be able to compete against those teams with what he had actually speaks to his coaching. It was their defense that kept them in those games despite the multiple scoring droughts we would have every game. That won’t be the case this year. Hell Zipper hasn’t hardly seen the court. Heard he’s been injured but 22 yr old that played with grown men in pro league. And even he contributes when he has seen the court and he’s like the 10th option right now. That’s depth.

I don’t know what his ceiling is, but McMahon has been solid since he’s been here.

We don't play anybody with a pulse till second week of January. At least, none of the teams on our schedule till then have shown one.

Not good for depth purposes, but the desire to get Reed 20 mpg is keeping Nwoko off the court. That’s ok for now, but Nwoko (barring foul trouble) needs to be playing close to 30 mpg, not 20. He’s simply a better player than Reed given his offensive growth this year.

Late last season, against some of the best teams in the country, saw an aggressive player. It’s been disappointing to see that not carry over just yet. I think McMahon has to find the right role for him on this team.
