What looks better?
Team A:
Close home win vs. #11
Close home loss vs. #1
34 point Blowout loss @ #3
Team B:
Close home win vs. #5
Close home loss vs. #3
Close road loss @ #16
You're missing a very important stat. Team A beat Team B, so in a discussion of who is a better team on the field, it's clearly the team who beat the other one.

It doesn't matter where LSU is ranked currently, because games are left to be played. What does matter is the precedent the committee is setting in their selection process.
Head to head records apparently don't matter, and they have specifically stated that margin of victory (or loss) wouldn't matter, but it obviously does.

I think you misunderstood whatever you are quoting (Link please?)..
I doubt they intended for margin of victory to mean NOTHING. I think they were saying they would not award style points for stat padding. But getting blown out is not the same as losing by 3.
How could you think otherwise?

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be the popular answer, but I am glad we are no where the top 10. This years team is no where ready for the playoffs, I would much rather go to a decent bowl this year without the added pressure of playoffs on this young team.
Next year though.....we should be ready to handle our business.

No, because you are dismissing the the 34 point boat race as just another loss.
•Championships won
•Strength of schedule
•Head-to-head competition (if it occurred)
•Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)

When head to head gets factored out freak college football

It's not some conspiracy
I'm not suggesting it is, but there is something wrong, if you go by the committee's own criteria, in their ranking of Old Miss at 5 spots better than LSU. There is simply nothing in their own rating criteria which justifies that 5 spot difference.
Yes, it will probably all work out in the end, but if they can be this off, again, going by their own listed criteria, why shouldn't we worry bout Dec. when they give us the final top 4?

If losses count for more than wins.... all I can say is you play to win the game

Bitching about rankings when we are about to play Alabama in a few days is retarded.
Sets up perfectly for us when we beat Bama, especially the way Herbie was saying Alabama is really the best team in the country right now. He thinks they're going all the way, and we can squash that shite this weekend.

You are assuming, IF LSU wins, a #16, 2 L LSU will move in front of a #5, at this time, 2 L Bama. How is that working out for us right now with Old Miss?

I didn't say we'd move ahead of Bama. I said their ranking would be hurt and they would'nt be so worshipped. Things have to fall out just right, but a defeated Bama will find it hard to beat #1. In that case we'd be on our way up, assuming we win out.
And FYI, when speaking about our win over Bama, the word IF is no longer allowed this week. All in for a Bama Beatdown!

The day when judging two teams based how they faired against a third team, instead of how they did against one another, is a dark retarded day
A hypothetical:
Team A is 0-7 and has lost every game by 20+ points.
Team B is 7-0 and has won every game by 20+ points.
They both have a common opponent.
Team A then beats Team B in a driving rainstorm 3-0.
Do you rank Team A above Team B, just because of the head-to-head victory???
Of course not, you must consider the entire body of work of a team. Sure, head-to-head games are very important, but they can also be an aberration.

Only in this case, LSU and Ole Miss have identical records.

I'm gonna love it, when we beat Bama, and they're still ranked ahead of us

It has everything to do with where we are ranked because of the precedent they are setting.
