if he's charged with DUI, he's off the team I would imagine

Pretty sure if it comes out he was drunk, he’ll be suspended

Suspended for driving around campus drunk right after a former player gets arrested on felony charges of negligent homicide and hit-and-run? Yeah I would say it would be a suspension at minimum.

He’s 17 so LSU can just suspend his parents and let him off free.

Horrible. Hope there is full recovery.

Assuming it's true he was drinking, the question is how much. A couple drinks at midnight could be out of your system for 2:45. Obviously, if he was drinking heavily that would come up in a blood test.

As far as reprecurissions, a DUI wouldn't be the end of the world. Thankfully, he did not injure anyone else. I don't know if this is grounds to cut him off the team.

he's the 3rd string QB. examples have to be made regardless.

It's a story and a headline, because he is an LSU football player, thus the added information.

So they just assume he’s the third string? Lol. That’s why it’s dumb.

Doubt he gets kicked off the team. Players get DUI’s frequently. Not like a posession charge or narcotics charge as well.

The kid is lucky to be alive and lucky he didn’t kill someone.

From a medical perspective...Ihope he makes it back to even a semi-normal existance...accidents that look like that, with unconscious occupants, don't end well except in miraculous circumstances..
God speed Colin...
Coaches and parents need to STRONGLY advise against these damn Chargers with these guys until they are mature enough to handle the responsibility...They are NIL death traps that end lives and careers...I know it could happen in any car, but these things seem to be far worse than all the others combined.

So a bartender sent out a snap and sent pics to people showing HER/HIS employer serving underage kids? Good luck keeping your job.

If it's his first time in trouble, I doubt it. He'll be suspended for a while and have to do a bunch of things to get reinstated, though.

No shot

DUIs happen all the time for athletes and they don’t get kicked off unless they injure another person

Damn. That looks bad enough to think he pressed the wrong pedal when he was trying to brake.

if i were a parent of one of these kids, i'd "make" them get a big SUV or luxury sedan instead of a sportscar

Just passed by the tree on campus and there were a couple of guys with plastic bags picking through the mulch by the tree. It's right off Highland in front of the Natural Resources Building as your turn onto South Quad Drive (Nicholson Extension). It's a large Live Oak and has a big area, 3' or so, where the bark is off the tree. I would assume he was heading west on Highland when he struck the tree.

He's 17 and way too inexperienced to be driving a car with that kind of power. If he was truly not drunk like the police and article are saying, I really think he sped up too quickly on a wet road, lost control and hit the gas in a panic when he was trying to brake.

RWD vehicles with that kind of HP in the rain is a tough ride for a sober, experienced driver.
