Counterpoint, guys like eyanson throw their offspeed low and in the dirt slot, couple wild pitches/blocked up balls that scoot away are possible

Sure, but a ton of that is with bases open. You can adjust accordingly if you think base stealing will be an issue.

Shores isnt that quick, but throwing 100 helps.

He's not slow, plus (like you said) he throws 100 and is 6'8.

WVU was also down for 75% of the innings played, so alot harder to risk the steal when losing

I have a feeling Coastal will be in a similar position.

They're not going to not steal bases at all, but I don't think it will be a huge concern.

you've watched him play all season. that will tell you more than a pop time during scouting or something

The last time LSU won a national championship, Jay used the HBP as a weapon all year.

LSU was HBP 119 times that year…CC has been HBP 176 times…yeah I would say they are getting away with leaning into pitches…

TL/DR:
*Strengths- starting rotation, back end of the bullpen, getting on base via BB/HBP, running game
*Weakness- offensive firepower/slugging
*Veteran team. 7/9 of the starting lineup are 3-5 year players
*Starting pitching isn't overpowering but all seem to have very good to elite control. Strikeout numbers don't pop off the page but the batting average against points to stuff being very good for their top 2 guys. I hope LSU has a more aggressive approach at the plate to attack early in hitter counts.
Thanks for the explanation TigerMoose. This looks like 2 well matched teams.

What kind of pitcher is the guy tonight? High velocity? What’s the out pitch?

Is it a style that favors LSU or not?

Hope JJ brings up before the game to the umps to watch for CC leaning into pitches with their bs absurd rate of being HBP this year…

This is the key!

Hopefully we change our approach and swing at 1st pitches. If we do this we win easily.

Working the starter to get them out isn't as important when their relievers are just as good.

The scouting report on LSU is throw 1st pitch strikes and we will take and fall behind. If we start swinging at these pitches they won't know what hit them. Now is the time to do it. We've literally set this up all season.

WTF?

There’s only 27 outs in a game. 24 SOs!

Not sure if there is another prediction thread, but I could see it going like this:

Game 1: Coastal 8 - LSU 2
Game 2: LSU 4 - Coastal 3
Game 3: LSU 14 - Coastal 6
