In 2005, Pelini was hired by LSU Tigers Head Coach Les Miles, again as defensive coordinator. His success continued, as LSU was ranked 3rd nationally in overall defense for each of his three years with the Tigers. At the conclusion of the 2007 regular season, the LSU Tigers defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 21–14 in the 2007 SEC Championship Game and went on to win 38–24 against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pelini's alma mater, in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game.[6][7]

Good talk josh

Notice how i said “relevant”? If you ignored his defenses the previous 6-7 years before coming back here in 2020, then you were just blindly hoping

and what a crap job they did. Especially OC in the UCLA game. Never once ran a draw or screen to counter the relentless blitz from UCLA. I knew we were in for a terrible year 20 minutes into that game.

This is what happens when your head coach is a low IQ meathead.

The only way it can work to have Coach O as a head coach is to have him take a low salary And then you can lure the absolute best offensive and defensive coordinator’s and pay them more than any other coordinators in the country. Once Coach O got a big raise, it eliminated that possibility and eliminated his chances of success as a head coach.

Coach is a used crab trap salesman. He was then, he is now. The only difference is, now, he's $17M richer and probably doesn't have to sell crab traps any longer.

In all fairness Ensminger did OK. Some fans just enjoy bashing him. He should get appreciation for the improvements he made.
look, we all love Ensminger. Seems like a great guy with no ego or drama. We all appreciate that.

But he's not a good OC. Didn't even want the job here. E had Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Helaire, and all of the OL in 2018, and his offense was pedestrian.

Only when Brady came did the offense explode in 2019. With the exact same talent.

Sorry, but although we all respect Ensminger, he simply wasn't a good OC.

But when you hire and have terrible coordinators on both sides of the ball for two years in a row this philosophy completely fails.

Ensminger wasnt a terrible coordinator.

O interfered several times with Aranda and it was noted. O admitted after the Ole Miss game in 2019 he over rode Arandas call, called for run blitz and plumlee scorched us on both plays.

He is heavily interferring with this years coordinators and especially with Pelini. Pelini has a gag order so he is unable to speak about that as a part of his buyout.

and? our defense was shite the entire game. If I was a HC I would suggest something also when they were running all over us

dumb LSU fans say this...people in the know say he is a great play caller

yeh our offense wouldn't have been great w/o Brady right? It's amazing how our fans don't have the ability to understand JB started playing great at the end of 2018 after learning the offense and time with wrs. Brady is fortunate he had 4 1st rnd pics to work with

What was O thinking hiring this guy

considering how much college football changed in 10 years and how offenses have evolved from power I to the spread I’d say it was a terrible hire and proved the game passed Pelini by considering he had the worst defense in the history of the school

He may not have forgotten how to coach 2007 football, but he clearly never adapted to modern offense.

And O was not thinking when he hired him. He didn’t even interview him.

Completely ignorant and the upvotes prove just how far from reality many of you are when it comes to talking football. Defending offenses from just a decade ago is completely different than now. We got Pelini because of dumb people like you, but in power at LSU, that think the same shite that worked in 2010 would work in 2020.

Are you saying you were watching Youngstown State games weekly? Being a HC is a little different than just being a DC, too.

You may not have wanted him back, but there was no reason to believe he'd field one of the worst defenses in LSU history.
