Next year he needs to prove he can coach us into playoffs. To be an elite coach.

No excuses next year. Props to O for getting the train back on the tracks, no doubt.

Another caveat is that O proved he can be a good coach with two elite coordinators and the majority of contributors from his predecessors recruiting classes.

Not only do we need to see him break the 8-10 win cycle of Les and actually get us to a BCS bowl at a minimum (preferably get us to an SEC title game or playoff) but we also need to see him prove he can maintain through multiple of his own recruiting classes and rotating coordinators. We’ll see

All he did was prove he can beat coaches who have been or are about to be fired.

The team could’ve easily given up and quit after the Troy loss. Props to O for getting them back on track and finishing the season 9-3

Who was responsible for the train getting off the track in the first place?

Also interesting how 9-3 “proves” he’s a great coach buy 9-3 was what got the previous coach fired.

Pretty sure OP purposefully referred to him as "good" instead of "great". This was an objectively good and not great year. I think we all can agree good isn't good enough and next year needs to be great.

Can’t have the bad loses like state and Troy and Florida last year.

And running Canada off. That probably buys him 2019.

While pleasantly surprised at the turnaround, no coach outside of a very select group are said to have arrived. It's year by year...

Part of the reason they’re being fired is because they couldn’t win. Someone has to win those games.

P.S. He also beat Auburn who has now beaten the #1 team in the league 2 out of 3 weeks.

I give O huge props for doing what was needed after the Troy loss to turn the team around, but it is very hard to take away much of anything from this season.

It was such a weird season.

Agree. Breaking in new QB, no elite RB for first time in 5 years, and brutal schedule. LSU administration will understand this.

Bingo. Today’s hero is tomorrow’s goat. It’s definitely year by year.

Yep.

O-pumpers don’t like facts, but here are two irrefutable ones.

A. He had the type of season that got Miles fired and is getting praised for it.

B. He did (A) in a year when the SEC is as bad as it has ever been. Top-to-bottom, the SEC was weaker this year than the Big 12, Big Ten, ACC and maybe the PAC 12.

Les needed to be fired, but he had to run some SEC gauntlets.

I’m not blinded by O’s, O-pumpers’, and Alleva’s smoke and mirrors.
