It doesn’t offend me when I hear this because we just won a Natty, screw any haters, and I’ll cherish that moment in the dome forever. But I’ve been hearing the whole season that folks don’t respect his “X’s and O’s” knowledge. Most recently from Skip Bayless when he said Dabo is far and away a better coach (I know, grain of salt from Skip, even though Dabo is a master). But I’ve heard it enough times to wonder, where the hell do people get this “info” from? Seems pretty difficult to verify and I highly doubt Skip and the people I’ve heard have personally witnessed O’s ”shortcomings.”

I’d prefer Ws over Xs or Os.

Who was the best at that this year?

Yea it is bullshite. It's almost a catch 22 in that his whole career he's been considered one of the best recruiters on the planet so people are quick to minimize his other skills. What I do find ironic though, is the elevation of Dabo's coaching acumen. I mean he was a special teams coach prior to HC...

Hire top end assistants to handle the X's and O's.

Coach O handles the Jimmys and Joes.

If a system works then go for it. College football is a different game, there are multiple paths to success.

Being a good head coach doesn't have to be all about X's and O's.

Don’t remember Coach O shooting us in the foot with poor clock management in the dying seconds.

So I think he’s probably a good coach.

bama and clemson have better players and ooaches. How did we beat them? Clemson has God on their side. Bama has satan on their side. LSU is the 9th wonder of the world.

It depends what people mean by that.

If they mean Xs and Os then it’s probably right. He’s not the guy behind those things.

But as a program manager, he’s proving to be elite. And that’s something that a LOT of great Xs and Os coaches are not good at. And, it is something that is as much of a determining factor of success as Xs and Os.

Old coach O yes! but LSU Coach O seems to have learned from past mistakes just ask the players from USC and LSU. Most of the national guys have no clue about coach O so who cares what they think.

Maybe they read the rant??

For two years he was dogged out (here) as a being a bumbling buffoon cookie monster shrimp boat captain.

I give zero fricks about "their" opinion and am damn glad he's here.

You're quoting Skip Bayless? Skip is a Jerry Whore. He knows absolutely nothing about football. Rick Bayless knows more about football than Skip.

Hell, Les Miles could own the ACC. That is a truly pitiful conference. What would Burrow's stats be if LSU played Clemson's schedule?

No 1 person can coach a football team, it simply can't be done. The best coaches are the ones who put the best personnel around them to assist and advise. Some great coaches are better teachers, delegators, salesmen, motivators, and talent evaluators than others. Coach O obviously has enough of each of the above skills.

I don’t care how good he is with Xs and Os. I don’t care if he doesn’t know a damn thing about football. I don’t care if he hires other people to make coaching decisions. He’s the man in charge and he just one a championship. He’s the CEO and doing a better job and anyone else at it.
