Without referencing the 2019 team your title ends with Coach O. Which is where is should have ended.

Good post. You never hear Saban going on and on about the past success. Every year is a new team and a new opportunity. That’s what he preaches. Quite the difference in culture

Coach O and his obsession with the 2019 team

It’s what he does when addressing any player or scheme since he’s been here

When discussing a DL, “reminds me of W. Sapp”

When discussing 4-3 D..”get pressure like We had at USC”

When discussing changes after 2016 “looking for balance like those teams at USC”

If coach O gets fired it will be for chasing the holy grail, the 2019 team.

It doesn't seem wise to keep evoking some other coach’s name (who is no longer here) as the reason for LSU’s success that year. If I were his boss I would say “ok coach, then why the hell do we need you?”

This is what Saban hammers every year.

Last year was last year. Time to forget that team and move on.

The fact some fans don’t want to emulate the 2019 team is laughable. Don’t strive for greatness am I right

Got to play to the strengths of the current team, plus coaches and players move on from your team and others. Game states aren’t the same from one year to the next.

He’s the head coach. Make 2019 LSUs style. Not just 2019 lsu. Not 2004 usc. Just say this is LSU and this is how we will play and recruit and hire to that. If not then your just saying shite instead of doing.

Yeah, no reason to try and immulate the most prolific offense in college history

He also tried to emulate USC at Tennessee with Kiffin. They used to play USC highlights at Tennessee to the team. Lol

If you really don’t understand the point that he was trying to make, and just want to try to play a semantics game, you’re an idiot

Because you’re supposed to focus on the future and not what you did 18 months ago. I’m sure Saban isn’t continually bringing up one of the 6i in every conversation, he’s worried about number 7. Thought it was absolutely dumb when players from 2020 season were holding the 2019 trophy for media shots after finishing 5-5.

Was this some misguided attempt at poetic meter?

Umm… the 2019 season set the bar for all of collegiate football in the history of the sport. It’s a fine idea to use that as a litmus test.

It is interesting to me that all of the CFP stickers are still on equipment cases etc. is that normal? I feel like you take those off post that season.

Do you see CEH or Joe Burrow out there for LSU?

We don't have the same players

Does Joe Brady run the exact same scheme at the Panthers?
