I told y’all the truth. I did not think we played good defense last year.

O left out the part about it was the starting D going against the 3s with TJ Max at QB.

Did he mention anything on being 0-10 on 3rd downs??????

He said we need to do better in early downs to get into 3rd and short, but we also need to execute better on those 3rd and short situations. I believe he also mentioned needing btter play calling.

If you meant to ask why O would throw it in? I’m asking myself the same.

Sorry, yes this is what I meant.

If Orgeron was telling the truth, and genuinely liked what he saw from the defense heading into the season, he doesn't need to qualify it any further by saying last year's defense wasn't great.

Agreed. That was also my logic behind interpreting it as “doubling down” — if he knew he was catching heat for it... why did he have to end that statement by basically restating himself?

I think he just couldn’t help it, and anyone reading between the lines should be bothered. I’m not the kind of guy to want to sew discord — I think it was already there.

What would you call this years defense ?
Terrible. But as a whole, LSU did not play great defense last year. They played great defense the last few games sure.

2) Derek Stingley: Sprained ankle. Did not elaborate as to whether he would be out + nobody asked either

So nobody asked the most important question? Without Stingley, we have no shot against UF. With him, we may have a shot.

but everyone here, whether they want to admit it or not, was fricking panicking after the Ole Miss game
Only fricking idiots were

Check my post history. Lsu was up 31-7 at half. Anyone that gave a shite what Ole Miss did as we were kicking their arse was foolish

Our defense was capable of stops last year throughout the year. They werent the best ever, but they were still very good

So CEO is going to stop being lazy and actually focus on the team; that is, put the nest fricking players on the field on every play and stop the mass rotations? Oh, kick the O-lines asses too?

work on schemes and execution

hmmmmmm i dont think "working on schemes and execution" is going to magically fix how bad linehan is. if linehan was good, he wouldnt have been fired as oc of the cowboys. his offenses ranked below average and had predictable play calling allowing for his offenses to go from 21(2015) to 5(2016) to 14(2017) to 22(2018). linehan was a very uninspiring hire and i cannot wait til they promote callaway to pgc

I’m starting to think the stories about back stabbing are real.

There is only one explanation. All camp the defense went against the second team and dominated, and O thought it was our first team offense.

The defense is creating a lot of pressures and turnovers. Problem is, on the plays we don't get a sack or turnover we give up huge plays. And we weren't really blitzing much this weekend which makes that even worse

There has rarely been a time that I think I know better than a college football coach.

This is one of those rare times.

They were incredibly inconsistent until the last 4 games. Remember Bama’s comeback?

No, shite you didn't play great defense last season, but at least the defense was still somewhat productive when they needed a stop in a game or a T/O to get the ball back to the offense. This defense here can't stop anything, the tackling is straight out of biddy league, no, I take that back because even those young kids make an effort when they're learning the game in how to tackle. Lol

but he must be on drugs or some shite to say what he said. Your defense is much worse than last season's defense that was playing really strong at the end of the season. I wonder what game was he watching on the sideline yesterday to say he saw them getting pressure, flying around to the ball, and hitting run gaps or plugging and stopping them. Lol

I can only guess the coaches acquiesced to his request to play safety out of fear he might op-out if he didn't. Otherwise, him playing safety is a completely illogical decision for both him and the coaching staff. He's as big, maybe bigger than Queen. He's a good tackler and plays his best around the LOS. His pro potential is at LB. They've tried for 3 years to make him a safety. He just isn't. And that's fine.

On Last season rewatches this was a near-constant observation when he would get burned down field, that it was an obvious mismatch.

yeah, Jacoby Stevens needs to play always up close to the LOS and guard TE's when they are running routes because he's too big and slow to keep up with speedy receivers. He may very well get turned into a LB in the pros.
