The D was not great last year, but they stepped up when they needed to and at times they played really good (especially toward the end of the season). We were awful against Texas as the game went on, bad against UF until late 3rd/4th quarter, unimpressive against Vandy, Ole Miss...

But Orgeron should have just said he evaluated things wrong based on what he saw in practice because what we have on D right now is a disaster.

This year we are setting records for defensive futility, and did so against the 3 worst teams on our schedule. Moreover, the teams running all over the field against us are not doing so against other opponents.

So far, this defense is arguably the worst ever fielded by LSU...and it is not due to lack of talent.
I agree with everything you posted. But LSU didn’t play “great” defense last year.

"The same guy we saw at Ole Miss." As I have so ofter heard, "A leopard doesn't change its spots."

So, they'll be around the 80 mark, huh?

It does seem like, in spite of an incredible championship season last year, Orgeron remains preoccupied with Aranda.

They are obviously different men but it surprises me that the great success didn't smooth over whatever differences in personality, style, or whatever else still sticks in CEO's craw.

Whatever. We are staring down the barrel of a 5 win season if LSU can beat both USC and Arkansas and then upset two more. That's obviously not a worst case scenario.

I think you nailed this man. Preoccupied is a great way to say it. Everyone downplaying it needs to go back and listen — he didn’t say “I got some heat for that” in a “I deserved it” kind of way is was much more of a shot at the reporter “I got some heat from you guys. I know y’all like to talk about that.” Etc

I’m not optimistic right now just from observing his demeanor. But maybe he turns it around who knows... still holding out a little hope it has been a weird year.
