It is not the ROSTER. For crying out loud, no one was really thinking National Championship this year.

What we were hoping was that our defense would be tough and help us out a bit.

House's ability is bad, real bad.

I expect LSU to compete, not get blown out or give up 55 points.

And Kelly is not a defensive coach. The offense is great.

I do not think House or anyone else knows how to fix the defense except Pete Jenkins, but will House or any other of those idiots listen. I doubt it.

Dude what coach in America is going to say that? Even Vanderbilt's coach wouldn't say some stupid shite like that. What are you even talking about? Like I said bipolar.

You said Kelly was honest? I was simply asking where he said "Hey, this defense is going to be horrible and look like it is completely uncoached. Just letting you know?" That would have been honest.

The reality is even he did not think the defense would be this bad. So to suggest the fans' frustration is somehow misplaced because the coach "told us that at the beginning of the season" is ridiculous.

No one is going to argue that LSU doesn't have as good a personnel as many LSU defenses in the past. Or even the better defenses in the LSU. But it would be absurd to argue the the personnel isn't better than many mediocre major-conf. programs...virtually ALL of them are better than LSU defensively.

It's been a coaching failure. That doesn't mean Kelly should be fired, or that he can't improve in the future. But it's reasonable for folks to criticize him for the defensive failures thus far.

IF he had said we were not on the level of Ole Miss, would you feel the same way. Or Missouri.

Saying you arent on the level of Ga is one thing. That is not really unexpected. Saying you cant man up Ole Miss, probably Missouri, Arkansas and shut them down was not what was communicated.

I dont want him fired, and I think that is silly to even mention, But no one foresaw being damn near the worst defense in college football.

It's not being beat out by talent. It's being soft, uninterested and out coached that hurts. When you're paying a coach top dollar for his experience, then you don't really expect to have so many coaching errors in game. Carelessly going for 4th down when it's proven you're having a hard time moving the ball only to not go for 4th down when you HAVE to and have been actually moving the ball outside of when you started choking with the play calling. Same with some of our best players barely seeing the field or not even playing.

Bottom line is this team looks like the coaches have taken 3 months off and the team has been out there doing their own thing. Then you have not coaching the small things which gives you embarrassing plays like not knowing to recover a blocked field goal or not jumping on a ball that's on the ground just in case it's a fumble. It's embarrassing how bad a failure it is and the bitch of it is that it was predicted by everyone but us people wearing our purple and gold glasses.

The coach is responsible for filling those holes and now that we have a transfer portal, we should have at least gotten a few more DB's to hold us over instead of a record running back room. At least we're finally running Diggs. But it's like he really wants to go to Emery.

Because he didn't tell us about the mason smith suspension.

Meh, lots of coaches choose to not disclose suspensions and let's be honest, Maason wasn't going to be the difference in that game from what i've seen.

quote:

Because he told us all summer & fall that the defensive line was great.

This is fair. The d line really needs some consistency. 4 coaches since spring is absurd.

quote:

Because he put a team on the field that got man handled by FSU.

Fair point.

quote:

Because the defense got absolutely abused to the tune of 700+ yards & 55 points against ole miss.

Another fair point.

quote:

Because he absolutely refuses to play our young play makers who were 4 & 5 star recruits because they are apparently still learning the position.

This one is tough for me because he sees practice and we don't. People also said he refused to play Nuss & refused to play a lockdown corner in Harris. Turns out Jayden is actually pretty dang good and Harris hasn't locked down much of anyone. But according to the rant, Nuss was better and Harris was the 2nd coming of Pat Pete.

Because he actually said "What is tackling?" in his press conference on Monday.

It was a figure of speech brother. I wouldn't get too stirred up about a figure of speech.

Any last but certainly not least... BECAUSE HE IS PAID 95 MILLION frickING DOLLARS TO WIN RIGHT frickING NOW!!!

I remember when Nick lost 7 games his first two years in Baton Rouge. Or when he lost 8 games his first two years at Bama. Remember when Kirby lost 7 games in his first two years? And UGA was in a much better place when they canned Richt than when LSU fired O.

One of the basic tenants of Leadership/Management is that you should talk about your "players" as you would like them to perform, not constantly dwelling on their shortcomings. Over time, people will naturally become how their leader describes them, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I would think a coach that makes $10+/year would understand that.

Okay but did he mention about not being on the level of Ole Miss? Because that's the issue.

My frustration with this team is not that we have holes. I can live with that explanation actually.

My issue here is that we have played 5 games this year.

In 3 of those 5 games (FLST, ARK, OM), we didn't make any adjustments during the game or at halftime.

In all 3 of those games, our defense looked lost for the WHOLE game in all 3.

That's a coaching problem.

Because we were never told, we had so many coaching holes. We knew about D-Line. But these defensive coaches are horrible.

We could jail break blitz every play and have more success than this D.

Run around screaming ‘drop it, drop it!..’ would be more successful.

This is not a personnel issue. This is a coaching issue. We may have some weak points in our line-ups, but that doesn't account for what we are seeing.

FSU put up 45 points and 494 yards on LSU.
FSU put up 31 points and 350 yards on Boston College.
FSU put up 31 points and 311 yards on Clemson.
Our personnel is certainly better than Boston College and should be roughly equal with Clemson, but our defense is worse.

Arkansas put up 31 points and 426 yards on LSU.
Arkansas put up 28 points and 308 yards on Kent State.
Arkansas put up 31 points and 424 yards on BYU.
Our personnel is better than Kent State and should be better than BYU. But we did the same or worse.

Ole Miss put up 55 points and 706 yards on LSU.
Ole Miss put up 48 points and 550 yards on Georgia Tech.
Ole Miss put up 37 points and 363 yards on Tulane.
We have better personnel than GT or Tulane, but our defense did worse.

Most of the teams in FBS have better defenses than LSU with talent that is inferior to ours. We tackle poorly because it wasn't stressed by coaches. We are out of position because our players weren't taught sufficiently. And somehow our coaches, who have worked with these guys every week for a couple months, had no idea.

This is Mallo-veto defense. Maybe worse. I would send House packing, replace him with the best analyst we had or position coach temporarily, and tel the rest of the staff, that they are auditioning for next years staff.

Not an excuse. Teams with a lot less and sure as hell staff paid a lot less are performing better.

The Emery situation is a perfect example of Kelly just trying to keep people happy when he needs to stop that shite and just play his best players.. Emery is a lost cause and Kelly needs to let it go

He was right. True fans know that Kelly had to rebuild this program; he is doing so, but it will take at least this year and next. Most of the players that see minutes on defense were not recruited by LSU.

Well it’s his job to fix the holes and he hired a complete arse bag of suck for all of our defensive coaches.
