He told us this. His exact words were we are not on the level of Alabama and Georgia from a roster standpoint right now. Why are we turning on him when he has been honest from the jump about the holes we have on this team?

For the obvious reason that you don't need to have Georgia's roster to not have a defense that looks like it has never played football before.

Sure did but we have an insufferable fanbase with unrealistic expectations.

We have the worst defense in the P5. There’s a big difference between not being UGA and being the worst D in the country despite having a top 10 talent eval.

Because the majority of teams have holes somewhere on their roster. They aren't all giving up 711 yards of offense. What a dumb post.

Because he didn't tell us about the mason smith suspension.

Because he told us all summer & fall that the defensive line was great.

Because he put a team on the field that got man handled by FSU.

Because the defense got absolutely abused to the tune of 700+ yards & 55 points against ole miss.

Because he absolutely refuses to play our young play makers who were 4 & 5 star recruits because they are apparently still learning the position.

Because he actually said "What is tackling?" in his press conference on Monday.

Any last but certainly not least... BECAUSE HE IS PAID 95 MILLION frickING DOLLARS TO WIN RIGHT frickING NOW!!!

And then, somehow…

What about the level of Syracuse, Rutgers, Arizona, Nebraska, Maryland, etc? Does he have the talent level comparable to those teams? Because ALL are significantly better than LSU defensively.

EVERYONE knew there were more questions defensively than with the offense. Luckily the offense has been even better than could have been expected...which means the defense, even without the talent of Alabama or Georgia, had to just be average. Instead, they are one of the worst units in ALL of the FBS.

Sorry Brian. When that happens you ought to face some heat.

BK has been honest man we as fans do this every time. I can still hear Nick Saban talking about this when he was coaching here. This sky had fallen mentality sucks man. We are the most bipolar fan base in America.

I think the biggest thing we overlook is that we have also lost guys like BJ Ojilari and Ali Gaye. Those guys were big time leaders. Couple that with hitting on some transfers like Wingo and Brooks. We obviously hit the portal again this year and those have not panned out like last years class.

So built in excuses. How did FSU do using transfer portal?

BK has been honest man

Is he though? After the Arkansas game he said Dashawn Womack was going to get more playing time. Then Womack got zero snaps against Ole Miss.

He's also said numerous times that we are young and inexperienced on defense, when we really aren't at all.

These quotes are funny. Like ole miss had a D and beat the shite out of us?

Hilton catches the ball that hit him in the hands or Jackson catches his, and they give up more points and yardage. However, somehow, their coach is sooo much better because they got lucky with unforced drops.

everyone knows this, BK acts like this isn't common knowledge.

Worst defense in the country means something in that program in sick.

He even said taking that many DBs in the portal is a red flag.

I'll admit, i thought he was playing coy. apparently not

I don't think its unrealistic expectations so much as our fans not being able to adjust expectations based on new evidence and/or being able to stick to the expectations that were set.

1) Lets start with my second option. I think that a decent amount of our fans said that 10-2 was a realistic expectation with 11-1 or 12-0 being the ceiling. Well right now we have 2 losses and can still reach 10-2 but an emotionless 10-2 in June feels a lot different than an emotionally charged 3-2 in October. So while the rational expectation hasn't changed, the emotion of how bad the defense looks and how many games we have to win in a row to meet expectations creates panic and anger.

2) Next would be changing expectations based on evidence. I would bet that the majority of posters here thought that the DL would be better than last year and that the secondary would at least be comparable to last year. Now that we have seen the defense play 5 games, it is very evident that guys we thought would be difference makers like Maason Smith and Omar Speights aren't just average but are objectively bad. And the secondary looks like they are learning their responsibilities from coaches that only speak Vietnamese. With this new evidence, a rational person would say "Hey maybe expecting this team to win 10 or 11 games was over zealous and we should reset expectations to 8-9 wins and realize that when you play in a shootout every week, you're bound to lose some.

The middle ground would be to reset expectations to 9-3 and HOPE that the defense finds its way a little bit as the season progresses.
