from a fan perspective, these cupcake games need to be played at beginning of the season...coaches like them in second half, so they will remain, I suppose

i love how everyone thinks players are mindless drones and will do whatever the coach tells them.

vs ole miss, the players knew about the injuries etc and lost their edge/intensity.

this year's team isn't championship level bc of youth, lack of on field leadership (especially on D), and lack of playmakers on D.

still the coach's job to make sure the guys maintain their focus and are ready to play.

I think the Furman game was -- I haven't seen you guys since then. I think that no matter what the coach said, it was Furman. I could not get them fired up until halftime and at halftime, we ended up with the 672 total yards and we rushed for 300 and threw for 300 plus. Again, I kind of felt like the second half, we did the things that we were supposed to do.

Q. At the beginning you talked about your team being excited for a game of this magnitude. Do you have any idea, have they been looking towards this game all season? You couldn't have said anything to get them up for Furman. Obviously you won't have that challenge this week?

COACH MILES: I think this team, kind of historically at LSU looks forward to playing Alabama. I think it's the same this week. I think our guys refresh beyond the open date and really looking forward to, you know, playing the best against our best opponents.

LSU has no business playing FCS schools. The players, fans, and even coaches don't care about the game

Tamu was down 7-2 at the end of the first quarter against utep last week.

Ohio State was up 30-20 in the third quarter against Buffalo.

Alabama, you're right, is different.

I have no problem with it, just wish it were in-state teams to make it more interesting.

You can't show-up every single week. Hopefully you bad games will come against teams who don't have the ability to keep up for 4 quarters.

Wow. I think this isn't just a one-time issue. Probably a similar effect against ole miss. Les needs some rethinking on his motivation tactics even though this is old news that we come out often with a sluggish attitude.

still the coach's responsibility.

the coach can't play the game.

you know mett threw 3 INT's right?

You know the Defense that was given so much credit in recent years bc miles had nothing to do with it, but now that it's faltering it's his responsibility?

so when the players do well, do you say "wow what great coaching?" bc i'm betting you don't.

I really don't care what other teams do vs. cupcakes.

My opinion is that we should be up 21-0 or so by the end of the first quarter ... up by at least 21 or more at the half ... and then use the rest of the game to play substitutes, get them experience, avoid injuries to starters, etc.

Sure, it can't always happen ... but as it has been pointed out with Towson, Furman, and others ... we often have games vs. cupcakes being too close at halftime.
