CLK is 1-9 against top ten teams and 13-26 against AP top 25 overall

I was surprised when I saw that stat. Well hopefully he will be 14-26 after aTm game. I thought he had a lot better record. Hate aTm faggies.

Well most of those games were at Ole Miss. Took him a while to build up the talent.

They kept repeating it all week.
That's not a good Stat.
Kelly had similar stats about not being able to beat top teams.
As far as kiffin I think those numbers will change at lsu. Some of those numbers are before nil when Ole miss couldnt get top players.

Few things.
1. A few were at FAU so irrelevant
2. Others at Ole Miss as heavy underdogs
3. At Tennessee one of the two were at Bama. He was a heavy underdog and was a blocked FG away from beating Saban and preventing Sabans first Alabama championship. It should have been kicked again due to the player taking his helmet off

I feel like that stat needs some scrutiny...did he have "inferior" teams in those matchups? Were they home or away? What was point spread? etc

I don't have time to do it but I would be interested to see the context of those stats where he was Coaching the record of his teams etc. Blanket stats like this aren't great.

B. Kiffin's actual record against the top 10 was 5-6.
C. Kiffin's record when Ole Miss was also ranked in the top 10 was 4-4.
Stats don't lie, but they can hide a lot.
ETA: Also, Ole Miss is normally a dog shite program, so their overall record against the top 10 is awful.

It's a cooked number specifically designed to make Kiffin look as bad as possible.

5 of the top 25 losses and 3 of the top 10 losses were in his time at FAU. 2 of his first 3 games at Ole Miss were against top 5 teams as well, so didn't have much of a chance in those, either, considering he was only just taking over a 4-8 team in the pre-portal era. It also includes 2 games against the #1 team at the time in his 1 year with Tennessee, which it's hard to have given him much of a shot in either.
Outside of those, the record goes to 1-2 against top 10 and 13-17 against top 25. Still not great, but he wasn't given the chance to improve those numbers in Ole Miss's playoff run, so it's still a bit deceiving. 9 years at programs that are punching up will give you a number of ranked losses before you're able to get on the same playing field as those ranked teams.
Edit: Where are they getting these numbers? I can think of 3 top 10 wins off the top of my head with LSU 2025, Georgia 2024, and Oregon 2011. There could be more, too. I no longer give a shite about this stat

How much should we really hold Kiffin’s record against Top 10/Top 25 teams against him at some of these stops?
At FAU, he went 0-3 against ranked teams. Sounds bad until you look at who they were: #9 Wisconsin, #7 Oklahoma, and #5 Ohio State. What coach at Florida Atlantic is supposed to be knocking off Top 10 teams with any regularity?
USC needs context too. Kiffin took the job, then USC got hammered with NCAA sanctions before he ever coached a game. His entire tenure was spent under probation and scholarship restrictions for something Pete Carroll’s program did before Kiffin got there. He went 1-5 against Top 10 teams, but how many coaches are consistently beating elite teams while operating under sanctions? People talk like Kiffin personally drove USC into the ditch, when Carroll left for the NFL and Kiffin inherited the NCAA wreckage.
Then there’s Tennessee.
The year before Kiffin arrived, Tennessee went 5-7 and 0-4 against ranked teams. In Kiffin’s first and only season, they improved to 7-6 and had to play TWO #1 teams: Meyer’s Florida and Saban’s Alabama.
He lost 23-13 at #1 Florida and 12-10 at #1 Alabama, with Bama blocking the potential game-winning field goal.
So what exactly was the expectation? Take over a 5-7 team and immediately beat Urban Meyer’s #1 Florida and Nick Saban’s #1 Alabama?

OM was a wreck when he went there and I know FAU played some ranked teams while he was there.
Maybe we should be looking at the last 3 years only when he had built up OM and running the gauntlet of the SEC.
