Clemson, SC gameday advice?

Looking forward to the trip. Was in Clemson once and enjoyed it, but it wasn't game day. Besides the retro converted gas station restaurant across from the stadium are there other walkable bars/restaurants? Parking and tailgating advice?

I taught at Clemson and was the Letterman faculty Club sponsor. The ESSO Club the OP referenced is legit!

All those credentials and all you got is basically a repost? Clempson must be pretty lame

Not sure what you’re in to, but Clemson is a lot of fun.
Some people get upset that you have to drive all the way to Seneca to hit up Applebees, but there are some other solid dining options in town. If you want to get away from the crowds, Durham’s in Six Mile has the best fried chicken lunch in the area. Can’t beat the fact that you can buy bait, beer and fireworks there too.
Oriental Princess is probably the best massage place. Bridge on Martin Creek Road is a pretty elite fishing spot. Tons of good golf courses but I’d suggest Top Golf in Greenville unless you have six hours to burn.
Everyone will suggest ESSO Club, and I don’t disagree if you can get in there. 65% chance of getting towed if roll the dice and park in one of the apartment parking lots behind that.
Hope this helps.

Parking can be a challenge to get close. You might have to park a little farther out. Esso is awesome (think the Chimes but for Clemson) and the town itself has some cool bars and shops. If you are there early, or or stay the Sunday after the Clemson Extension botanical gardens are BEAUTIFUL any time of year. And free! Gameday atmosphere is great! Lots of tailgating and Clemson fans are way more hospitable than the USCe fans...at least until the game starts. Most of their fans are already chalking up this game as a loss because they also lose a lot in week 1. If you are looking for more of a city feel Greenville is not far away too and the Reedy Creek area in downtown Greenville is beautiful with lots of bars and restaurants. The biggest thing to know about Clemson is that the University is the town. There is literally nothing else there that is not associated with the University, so, you have to drive out of Clemson to get to other things. And there are a lot of small towns around Clemson with old charm (Seneca, Walhalla, Six Mile, Keowee, Pendleton, etc...but the Clemson fans wear their overalls because it is an Ag and engineering school surrounded by cow farms in the country. So plan accordingly

Yeah...most everyone going to the Clemson game is looking for a massage parlor, a bridge to fish off of, and to play at top golf....geez

Me and my buds went one time to watch a basketball gake at littlejohn colisium. The hotel guy recommeneded we eat at the local chick fil a. Now i love me a good chick fil a but this one didnt give off that fast food fine dining like my local joint does. We had to wait over 5 minutes for food and they didnt give me extra pickles like i asked for, only like 4. Dont recomend going to clemson, just pick up food from your local chick fil a and tailgait outside tiger stadium and watch the game there!

Would it be worth making the trip to just experience game day in town and catch the game at a local bar/restaurant?

No. Clemson fans are a miserable lot.

After going to Vegas last year and getting all excited, I’ll say this. Don’t go or if you go, don’t get your hopes up. I’ll believe it when I see it with a Brian Kelly coached team.

Their fans are awful. If you're in the Upper Deck, it's horrible.

Trying to decide on whether to go to this game. I live fairly close but don’t want to get burned like I did going to Orlando two years ago
