None of that makes Michigan State the more prestigious name. Therefore, they are still the little brother in Michigan.

That's the problem. It's a tougher game against a 2nd tier team. I'd rather beat up on a blueblood like Michigan or Notre Dame. More exposure and more winnable.

I remember last year a mention of allowing red-shirts to play in bowl games. I think that was just a proposal to make the bowls more interesting; has anyone heard if that's been approved?

The only thing I hate about this bowl is that it’s at 12.

Outback and Tax Slayer are one hour earlier at 11 AM

I think Citrus off-sets affect of LSU repeat trip by bringing in the national appeal of Notre Dame.

LSU vs ND is always a great matchup. LSU always gave ND a tough game back in 60s & 70s. With the rich Catholic heritage in Louisiana makes it even that much better. I hate the Golden Domers.

would really like to play Notre Dame. We owe them a beating and knocking off the Irish is always a ton of fun.

Yes. It's not like the Citrus Bowl is really considered more prestigious than the Outback Bowl.

ETA: Just realized that the Outback kickoff is even earlier than Citrus. I'm all in on the Citrus Bowl now!!

Ok. But the Outback starts an hour earlier than the Citrus.... plus if LSU goes to another bowl and starts at say 2:15 it may be on a day most have to work.....

Yeah I agree.

I thought the Outback bowl was a 2 or 3pm kickoff for some reason.

I'd love to see them go back to the Citrus Bowl and play Michigan State. But Outback Bowl will be good too. Both are New Year's day bowls, so I'm very happy with either one.

Michigan St certainly isn't the storied program that Michigan is, but they are the more successful one. Unfortunately they don't have the national draw that Big Blue does.

They've won the Big 10 in 2010, 2013 and 2015 and Mark Dantonio may be one of the most underrated HCs in the country. He has a much better win percentage at Mich St than Saban does and over a longer period of time.

Here's your realistic choices:

Mich State or NDame in Citrus at 1pm kickoff

OR

Northwestern in the Outback at 12 noon kickoff.
