Either something was wrong with Curiels arm this year or he will never be a CF. Several times late in the year he struggled to throw the ball on a line to 2nd or 3rd

I keep wanting to remember him jamming a shoulder on a base running play early in the season. I just can’t place when it was. But I can see him hopping up and his arm kinda hung down and he was kinda protecting it.
Hope it was nothing major but he definitely does have a plus arm. Definitely more plus than Stanny.

Yes, have you watched him? It’s not even a full swing. He slaps at it

Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew and Pete Rose all think you are a dolt.

will happily take him "slapping" at it and hitting over .300 and playing great defense again next year. Where do you idiots come from?

Throw in a little objectivity in there fella.

Nobody said anything about not wanting him for next year, the topic was him projecting well at the pro level, which as it’s been pointed out, he doesn’t. He is a good college player and may make it, but it’ll be in the late rounds unless he adds to his game.

Fresco Tiger: I agree. It must be an injury, an elite college OF has to have a stronger arm than what was shown last year.

Nothing left for Stanfield to prove by returning. He'll sign with someone and give pro ball a shot.

Option A - be done with baseball for good.

Option B - try as an UDFA, get paid peanuts, and maybe still be forced into Option A

Option C - play at the highest level of college baseball, bang college chicks, maybe make some NIL, for one more year. Then hope you get drafted, or try Option B again.

It's a no brainer to me, unless he really really wants to be done with college life.

What do you mean? He can try to win another national championship and likely live a life in college that is much better than he would have in the minors. I'm not sure why he would rather go play pro ball instead of return to LSU?

I think there are some people who would just rather him not come back, so they are projecting.

It's probably the same people who tried to convince everyone that Frey should come back

I know this turned into a Stanfield debate, and i hope he comes back as well, but man would it be nice if Cowan can be our Sunday starter next year.

What would really be nice is if 3 out of Evans, Schmidt, Rizzy or one of the transfers were so good that they blocked Cowan out of being a weekend starter.

This is exactly the way I see it.
There is no reason to go UDFA for hardly any money when you can stay at LSU, probably make more with NIL, maybe finish a degree, add power to your game and thus improve your draft rank next year.
And if you still go undrafted...... just go UDFA next year.

Then again, you never know what these players are thinking or have going on but the only reason I see for him going UDFA is as you said, unless he really is done with college ball/college lifestyle.

ehh. I like the idea of that sunday starter being a veteran who's throwing a bit different than what your normal flame throwing starters will do on Fri/Sat.

Most players like to go out on top. He transferred to LSU and won a title. For most, wrapping up a career that way is the ultimate dream.

Please don’t tell me you are comparing Stanfield to three of the all time best hitters.

Your username is worse than I thought it would be.

I hope he comes back, FWIW. I just don't think he will. It's fine that you disagree.
