Agree 100% -
Doug Thompson is awful. He constantly talks over Chris Blair. Anytime a play is in motion he starts in with - "yes sir!" on strike outs by our pitchers; "get down!" talking to the ball as its in flight by an LSU hitter..
Some of this would be much appreciated... In a truly big game, at a big moment, then fine. But, mid week game in the 3rd inning, come on, please stop it.
Charlie Hanigriff matched with Blair would have been a much better combo

I agree. His voice reminds me of Marc Vandermeer for the Texans some. When he tries it just isn’t genuine.
Idk what to really think, but I’m gonna give it time and hope his love for the school takes over - not to the Jim Hawthorne level though. That was too much at times.

I understand Hawthorne wasn’t perfect, but the man loved LSU. And he called some of my greatest memories as a kid (80s) until he retired. Blair is more polished and has a more classic sound, he’s good. But Hawthorne will always be the best to me for many other reasons.

Chris couldn't carry John Ferguson's jock...sorry, I like Hawthorne better too.

I think Hawthorne is great

Blair is fine, I've never liked Rollins voice.

I like Rollins, Big Ben and Blair.
I also liked Hawthorne.
Rollins and Ben are the best team on SECN+

I like Chris Blair. There’s nobody they could hire to please 100% of our fans. Jesus could call the games and people would bitch.

Because Blair is better than the tv guys.

I like how he tells you the score and inning. There’s been games in the past I was listening for 15 min before I knew anything.

He was a below average announcer with a weird nasally voice and I was glad when he finally retired.

You’re definitely in the minority. Hawthorne has been and always will be revered by Tiger Nation.

I like the way Blair calls a game. One of the issues with baseball is his complete lack of chemistry with Doug Thompson. You can listen to an entire inning without hearing a single exchange between the two.

Let's agree to disagree. And it amuses me that the most consistent pro-Hawthorne take is that it was awesome that Jim was a rabid homer and Chris Blair is just too professional.
Chris Blair was such a good hire that I remain a little surprised that Joe Alleva even made it.

Just when I thought we have run out of sht to btch about you go and do this...and totally redeem yourself.

He's no John Ferguson, but then neither was Hawthorne. JF was simply the greatest and furnished the ideal balance between expertise and knowledge and rhetorical sweep. With Jim Hawthorne, it was all about the latter.

John Ferguson was absolutely the greatest... he and Walter Hill on color. Those were the days.
