I donated yesterday.....That's a beautiful thing you did for that family. Their world has been shattered by this tragedy. I hope this effort can help them.....

Hey Mick,

I see you're in my neck of the woods. Let me know when/where I can buy you a beer or two.

Good stuff.

I thought with these types of services (GoFundMe, Kickstarter, etc.) you had to meet the goal amount or the funds are returned to those that donate? If you keep changing the goal amount to more could that jeopardize the funds? I didn't think it was a problem if the donations exceed the goal.

If that's not the case please ignore.

Not sure how it works either. Seems he could drop the goal to current amount and it would clear.

From Go Fund Me site:

What if I don't reach my goal?

No problem. Reaching your goal is not required. With GoFundMe, you keep each and every donation you receive. Your campaign will be able to accept donations even after your goal is reached. Once the goal is reached, the progress meter on your campaign will show that you have received more than your goal amount. If you’d like to continue raising money, you can keep your campaign running for as long as you’d like.

Everyone kept saying bump the goal up as it keeps getting reached. I think you're referring to investment sites for startups but Im not certain.

Atlanta Journal Constitution picked up the story today..

I was contacted by a reporter just now who was basically verifying our campaign is legit etc...

This is from the article, prior to my phone call just now:
quote:

Since the accident, support has poured in for the Hagan family. Multiple fundraising accounts have raised tens of thousands of dollars. One campaign, which has not yet been verified by the family, has ballooned to more than $30,000 with the support of LSU fans.

Hopefully they update that wording, they kind of make us sound a bit sketchy.....
