What would it take to get him back here? Are those bridges forever burned? Could we move Steele to LB coach? Would you even want him back?

Why don't you look at what Chavis has done at A&M and tell us why you'd want him back? A&M isn't lacking talent by any means on defense and they completely sucked. His elite success at LSU and Tennessee was a product of having (what I would consider) the most talent rich stretch of defensive teams for any DC in the history of college football. There are a lot of guys that I'd take over an aging, lazy, can't recruit to save his life version of Chavis
ETA: we're paying for Chavis' lack of recruiting right now. I'm not a huge Steele fan but we're paper thin at LB and DL, Chavis wouldn't have fielded a good defense at LSU this year either

From what I can piece together it seems like Sumlin when MIA from a few scheduled functions and allegedly showed up on a recruiting visit drunk out of his mind. The rumor is he will be fired "for cause."
