if i get time tonight, i’m going to dig up the numbers.

what he did in 2016 was nearly identical to what Miles did in 2015. and actually, Miles’ 2015 was slightly better stats wise.

and people wanted Miles tarred and feathered for it.
they gave O a fat raise and ridiculous buyout.

Les Miles in 2015 vs five craptastic defenses (average defensive raking - #83) :
550 yds per game
42 points per game
Leonard Fournette is runaway favorite for the Heisman and looks like best RB in the country. flirted with single game rushing record multiple times, but sat out most of 4th qtrs due to large leads
undefeated and ranked in the initial Playoff rankings.

Ed Orgeron in 2016 against five craptastic defenses (average defensive ranking - #98.5):
555 yds per game
43 points per game
Fournette/Guice look like best RB in the country. Broke single game rushing record because they didn't sit out late as they did the year before.
undefeated and some saying one of hottest teams in the country

Les Miles in 2015 against top 10 defenses:
302 yards per game
25 points per game
1 win, 1 loss

Ed Orgeron in 2016 against top 10 defenses:
274 yards per game
5 points per game
0 wins, 2 losses

and broken down by opponent:

2015 against the #110 ranked rushing defense in the nation (So. Carolina): 411 rushing yards, 45 points.
2016 against the #120 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Ole Piss): 311 rushing yards, 45 points.
Advantage: Les Miles

2015 against the #108 ranked rushing defense in the nation (A&M): 244 rushing yards, 19 points
2016 against the #112 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Mizzou): 418 rushing yards, 42 points
Advantage: Ed Orgeron

2015 against the #80 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Auburn): 411 rushing yards, 45 points
2016 against the #94 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Arkansas): 390 rushing yards, 38 points
Advantage: Les Miles

2015 against the #70 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Miss St.): 266 rushing yards, 21 points
2016 against the #75 ranked rushing defense in the nation (A&M): 298 rushing yards, 54 points
Advantage: Ed Orgeron

2015 against the #25 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Florida): 221 rushing yards, 35 points
2016 against the #36 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Florida): 219 rushing yards, 10 points
Advantage: Les Miles

2015 against the #1 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Alabama): 54 rushing yards, 16 points
2016 against the #1 ranked rushing defense in the nation (Alabama): 33 rushing yards, 0 points
Advantage: Les Miles

so in 6 conference games against similar level opponents, Miles outperformed Orgeron 4 times.
and actually, the defenses Miles faced were slightly better than the ones O faced.

again, one of these two got fired.
the other got a $3 million dollar per year raise.

Your two posts showing the stats for 2015 vs. 2016 are great posts. Thanks for taking the time to research these numbers and for posting them.

He hasn't done anything to make me feel he isn't just playing people, the program, the college. I'll still hold off judgement, and maybe, just maybe, he's a good guy who REALLY lacks self awareness. But I can't shake the feeling that he's a politician first and foremost.

Nailed it.

This is exactly the impression I get, and let's look at what he is: a recruiter. Conning and manipulating would be a useful skill to get good recruits, as he's done. That would explain the uninspired play and underperformance, once the kids figure out they've been conned. This wouldn't apply if he's working under a real head coach, but when it's him, the kids know they've been jobbed. Ole Miss and here.

This is the only coach that have ever seemed to make an effort to shill on message boards too, and it just makes the con artist/career politician angle that much more prevalent. Miles truly didn't give a frick if there are gifs of him sticking his finger in his ear. But O has people running propaganda to cover his every gaffe, over here.

The more I see and hear him, the more I can't stand him.
