You're a good man to admit all this, sicboy.
I'm kind of right there with you, but I didn't assert anything in those discussions.

Takes a big person to admit error in such a conspicuous and often vicious place that gives little quarter.

I think if you don't make it a game about being right or not, admitting you were mistaken becomes a lot easier. And it's a lot easier to brush off the told-you-so pricks that come in screaming.

I was skeptical about O being hired at all, when CLM first brought him into the fold. I thought he would bring division to the staff and team. Current rumors suggest he had a hand in CLM's firing. That would not surprise me. But he seemed to do good as DL coach and with recruiting. So...

Then when he was promoted to HC I thought it might be good to go along with it for the sake of healing. So I swallowed my misgivings.

I was ready to drink deep of the kool aid when he kept Aranda and hired Canada; the preseason hype was so positive (even when the Purple Gold game was less than spectacular). But then came the first game. Yuck! And then MSU blew us out. And there were no answers.

Having learned from the prolonged departures of Cholly Mac and CLM, I decided this one should be short, sudden, and surgical. No question in my mind that O should be given a chance. He shouldn't. And no question that besides O's firing, Aleva should also be fired. Both sooner rather than later.

I think this is more perception than reality.

We could point to games that were closer than they should've been under Miles simply because he'd been here so long that he had a huge sample size.

There are far more games where Les Miles teams ran the other team out of the stadium, but those are lost in the fray and people don't credit him for that. But then we turn around and praise Orgeron for blowing out a few teams in a single truncated season. Seems like confirmation bias to me.

If you look at the scores and compare them to Miles teams, they really aren't any different.

Never thought he was qualified for the job, but hoped he would be successful. Thought he was in over his head, and felt sorry for him. Now I'm just pissed off and counting the days until he's shown the fricking door.

An honest trust in what people say, that's fine.

And again, I didn't want him as coach. The morning I saw those headlines was pretty dark......until I went to the park with my kids. Cautiously optimistic, and it didn't help that IMO the anti-O crowd was as obnoxious as I had ever seen.

Do you get it now though? Is it at least a little forgiven? The obnoxiousness, or fervency as I would rather call it, was because of people either saying "Ole Miss doesn't matter!" or

Because he said so

Literally all rational data pointed to the current state of affairs. The only positive way to look at it was

so on the surface level, I had no reason to not think he had seen the light.

Was to ignore the signs and just believe. Was it obnoxious to not believe?

Just my opinion but the whole "fallen man but rehabilitated" theme has wide appeal, and as you pointed out, some people are uncannily adept at saying exactly what they know other people want to hear.

Ed Orgeron has that ability - I'd imagine it's an essential part of recruiting.

Right. The obnoxiousness, at least for my part, was borne out of frustration that people couldn't see, or worse, decided not to see what was right in front of them.

I feel like eventually all of the Trump supporters will feel the way you do about Orgeron.

Here's what people are overlooking with that and I kept pointing it out last season: the teams we were supposed to beat handily..........we were beating handily. Towards the end of Les' tenure his teams had a knack of making games close that had no business being so. Alabama and Florida were obviously disappointing, but we were running teams off the field. I had missed that and it gave me hope that we had the opportunity to make that crucial step towards being a relevant program again.

My feelings as well.

I'm truly fascinated that anyone thought this was a half way decent idea...

Fact after fact after fact proved that guys like him dont turn it around. It wouldve made history had he actually turned out to be a good coach.

It was like hiring a guy hoping that we could get a 30 for 30 made one day. 95% of the time, those stories dont work out.

ETA - I've spent WAY too much of my life trying to convince people he was the wrong hire. I'm very satisfied that others can final see it. Hate it took losing to Troy to make that happen.

I tried being rational. I tried taking a wait and see approach and giving him the benefit of the doubt. I thought we would be very good this year and that he would continue what I saw last year in his interim stint. I don't think I've ever been so wrong about something in my life. I'm totally speechless how wrong I was. It's a little bit bewildering.

The loss to Troy was brutal, but what I can't stomach, is the comments about Brosette and the kickers afterward. Those are pathetic comments for a coach to make. And add to that he's clearly lining up Canada as the fall guy with his repeated statements that this is 100% Matt's offense and I'm done with that dude. I was listening to a podcast this morning and they played Mike Gundy's famous rant and it really pissed me off that our coach wouldn't stand up for his players publicly like that. No, our coach will, basically unsolicited, throw his guys right under the bus.

Probably. And Ensminger had the offense going in the right direction for the most part.

I wasn't thrilled when he was given the head coach position, but I was willing to get behind him and support him, his staff and the team.

But after the way the team has performed this year, the departures, the suspensions and now, the comments about some of the players, like the kickers, I can't support o any longer. I still hope the football team is successful, but I'm not happy with the man leading the charge.

That's what I was thinking as well. Another one of those fantastic decisions by Coach o.

I didn't have to turn on him because I hated the deal from jump and never got on board.

Love LSU, will support LSU but will never ever support that lying snake.

I sure do wish I had been wrong, I really do

I never wanted him as our DL coach. Felt he was a cancer then.

Surprise!!!
