He may have thought that admitting to the asthma induced by covid could hurt his draft status since he didn't know what the lasting effects were gonna be. Only thing I can think of as to not release this info earlier.

I mean maybe, but he opted out in August. It’s now April. If it was something like COVID and asthma, he did a lot more damage to his reputation not saying anything about it for 8-9 months. I just don’t think this excuse is very believable

I think those are both valid arguments but ultimately I could see one leaning toward not disclosing it due to uncertainty about how it would be received or how long the Illness would take to run its course.

I'm a pretty healthy individual and that shite put my lungs through the wringer. Couldnt walk from point a to point b without feeling like I couldnt breathe. Cant imagine trying to play football with it.

That is my experience as well.

Since I had done a pulmonary test a few years ago, I got another one to compare. Even after 7 months of recovery, I have lost about 10% of my pre-Covid lung capacity. It was much more when I was actually sick; for a few days, I couldn't speak above a whisper by the end of the day.

If trouble breathing is the symptom you get, it's not possible to play football through that.

having just gotten over a nasty bout of covid i'm going to say the shortness of breath would have been a death nail on the field.

So you mean he failed multiple drug tests

If memory serves, he sat out a game in 2018 under mysterious circumstances.

I'm loving the lengths people are going to still criticize him. Who fricking cares. He objectively made a great decision for his future.

I like Chase even though he opted out. But this is not the truth. He was gonna sit 3-4 games for failing a drug test and didn’t want the negative attention.

Yes because I am sure you know this ...

Why not just come back once he had it? Then he wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.

That doesn’t make sense.

I don't understand how some of you are so dense. Maybe he didn't want to get it in the first place? How do you know how it would affect him in the long term if he had gotten Covid?
