I was upset when he opted out. But this interview definitely changed my view on his choice. He didn’t want to opt out. His health forced that decision. I can respect that and I appreciate what he’s done for this program.

I'm a pretty healthy individual and that shite put my lungs through the wringer. Couldnt walk from point a to point b without feeling like I couldnt breathe. Cant imagine trying to play football with it.

There are NBA players, some of the best athletes in the world IMO, who got it and say they still don't have full lung capacity back. This shite doesn't have to kill you to be a pain in the arse.

Former LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, a projected first-round pick in the NFL draft, revealed Thursday he had COVID-19 and had trouble breathing, which led to his decision to opt out of the 2020-21 college football season.

In an interview with NFL Network's Jane Slater, Chase said he needed asthma pumps while dealing with the virus.

"That's what really made me think about my decision the most, 'cause I couldn't breathe as much and I was even using asthma pumps, and I haven't had asthma since I was a kid.

"I'm just trying to look at my health in the long experience and make sure I'm in good health," Chase told Slater.

He doesn’t have much reason to tell the truth, either, for the exact same reason.

He’s previously said he talked with his family and they didn’t like the rules and made a tough decision. I would imagine he’s saying whatever he thinks will get the least blowback, and personally that doesn’t bother me

Why not just come back once he had it? Then he wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.

That doesn’t make sense.

Probably because it triggered his asthma that he hadn't experienced since he was a kid and he didn't know what the lasting effects would be.

If he has asthma, I highly doubt he would have been in any kind of game shape before the season was out. Possibly towards the end but would have been pointless to come back.

I like Chase even though he opted out. But this is not the truth. He was gonna sit 3-4 games for failing a drug test and didn’t want the negative attention. That’s been confirmed by people within the program and local media, particularly one who used to work for ESPN radio and has his own YouTube show now.
